Issues connecting within Facebook & Instagram app for selling on Instagram

Hi,

For my brand, I want to tag products within my Instagram posts so people can click on them and be sent directly to our webshop. However, it's impossible to connect my Shopify account to Meta and integrate my store. Every time I try to connect, it says, "Cannot update disabled CMS: Update CMS failed because it is disabled." Please see the attached screenshot.

Does anyone know how to fix this? I can't seem to enable the CMS.

Help is much appreciated. Thanks!

Hi @Pinaud ,
This is Theodore from PageFly - Shopify Page Builder App.

Enabling a disabled CMS isn't possible on Shopify, so forget about that approach for Instagram product tagging. Here are your options:

  1. Manual Tagging: Add product tags directly on Instagram posts (less convenient).

  2. Facebook Catalog Manager: Create a product catalog in Facebook Catalog Manager, connect your Shopify store, and tag products from your catalog when creating Instagram posts.

  3. Third-Party Apps: Explore Shopify App Store for apps that integrate Shopify with Instagram and enable product tagging (might have additional features and fees).

Best regards,

Hi,

The problem is that it isn't possible to connect my Shopify store in Meta, but it is possible to connect my product catalog. It's so weird because a friend of mine with a Shopify store followed the exact same steps as I did, and he didn't receive that CMS notification.

Looking forward to your help.

Hi there, @Pinaud. Thank you for taking the time to reach out to the Shopify Community Forums with your question around onboarding the Meta Sales Channel, and this CMS error you're getting. My name is Imogen. It's good to meet you!

To set some expectations for you, we're unable to authenticate users and accounts here in the Community, as such, we're unable to access your account and dive into too deeply when troubleshooting this issue. With that being said, this looks to be an issue related to the Meta/Shopify account connection.

I recommend that you reach out to our Authenticated Support Team via our AI Assistant so we can get you authenticated, and dive into this integration a bit so we can better troubleshoot the issue at hand, and help you get the support you need with resolving it!

Why would you have a disabled CSM is it a Meta issue?  Could we try to connect our store to a different Facebook account?  We have the same issue

Thank you
