It is a shopify internal notification. Shopify removes the items from the cart after they made the purchase and it was the last piece.
The customer gets a pop up message that : 

Out of stock

Some items are no longer available and have been removed from your cart.
So the customers keep sending me a message that they really ordered and something went wrong, but in reality nothing went wrong.

This notification is standard in Shopify to inform customers that an item they tried to purchase was sold out during checkout. To minimize confusion:

  1. Customize the Notification: Edit the message to clarify that their purchase was successful but the item is now out of stock:

    • Go to Online Store > Themes > Edit Languages, search for "Out of stock," and modify the text.
  2. Set Clear Expectations: Add a note on product pages or checkout to inform customers about inventory updates during checkout.
