Large catalogs need filters with collections over 5000 products!

We're migrating a large product catalog from Zen-Cart to Shopify.  We are almost at more than 5,000 results for some of our collections.  Segmenting by sub-categories in menus is bad UX design because the customer has to constantly go to the top of the page to find something else to shop by.  It's much better experience to choose a product type and then filter by brand, attributes, categories, etc.

We really need filters to be visible for collections with over 5,000 products!  Is this on the product roadmap? Is there an app the overcomes this limitation?

First of all if the store is on large scale and using shopify plus plan or enterpirse plan so you should  buy third party filter app like,

- Boost AI Search & Filter

- Smart Product Filter & Search

Which are created for large scale product filtering.

We are shopify basic.  Will these apps allow us to go over 5000 and still have filtering?

yea, at the cost of several hundred dollars a year- and most of the crappy apps you listed only have a 7500 product limit so not really helpful. Shopify should just remove the limit for free instead of making users rely on expensive jenky third party apps.

Correct. Shopify should remove this limit. It’s frustrating for businesses.

Agreed.  It's a limitation without a reason.  Sort of like giving you a six cylinder car, but only enabling four of them.
