Locked out of inactive account due to no longer having original email address, still being billed

Hi there,

I was perhaps a bit hasty when setting up my shop in early 2020. I set it up under an account on a domain I purchased for the shop.

Ultimately COVID happened. I did not go through with the business and decided not to renew the domain name.

I noticed I'm being billed by Shopify so I tried to login and cancel my account. I can receive and verify the six-digit codes sent to my mobile device, however because the account has been inactive for more than three months, a ten-digit code was sent to an email address I no longer have access to.

What do I do?

Hi @RW6729,

Thanks for reaching out!

I can definitely understand why you'd like to stop being billed for an account you're no longer using. Since it sounds like you're not able to log in to close the store yourself, what I'd recommend is that you visit our Help Center here, select "Continue without logging in", then choose Get support. This will allow you to get in touch with our support team, who can verify a few account details and/or review any Shopify charge(s) you're able to share to help you get the account closed at last.

Please let me know if you have any questions! We're here to help however we can.
