Looking for advice to get organic traffic to my Shopify store

Hey everyone! I’ve been running my Shopify store for a while, but I’m struggling to get enough organic traffic. I’d love to hear what’s worked best for your store in terms of increasing traffic. Are there any specific strategies or tactics that really made a difference for you?

This is an accepted solution.

it's really a combination of a number of things.   some things to work on:

  • make sure in Google Search Console all your pages are indexed
  • technical SEO (run the site through https://pagespeed.web.dev/ and fix as much as you can
  • semrush - get the free account to track some keywords, etc.
  • make sure keywords are in the title, description, and meta description
  • make sure you don't have duplicate content.  make sure content (description, etc) are unique of other sites
  • backlinks arte important (you need other sites to link to yours)

You can play with the content (verbiage) of the pages and see if that helps.  But you won't know unless you are tracking the keywords.

you can consider posting on some forums in your niche (try not to get kicked off for spamming) to gain some visibility. the backlinks will be no follow but they might get clicks.  I had a post on a forum that got clicked a half dozen times a day for over a year

Hi Bryan, Thank you for your suggestion! Could you please provide more details on the forums you’ve had success with? I’ve joined a few, but my posts don’t seem to be getting much visibility.

Appreciate your help!

what do you sell?  should to be specific to you niche.  reddit is decent but the mod could delete your comment so sneak it to a thread.

if you go into semrush you can look at your competitor's backlink.  good place to find sites.  you can also make a listing on hotjar (easy backlink) and claim your bizapedia profile and add your site.

Thanks for the advice! I actually sell kefi commerce, which is a bars and bundles app for Shopify stores. It helps store owners with features like free shipping bars, countdown timers, and more.

And you are spot on about Reddit. I tried posting there but my comments and posts got deleted so I stopped engaging on that platform for now. I ll definitely check out semrush for backlinks though sounds like a great idea!

Hi @Pooja_kefi

To increase organic traffic to your Shopify store, you can focus on several SEO strategies that have proven effective for many store owners:

  1. Improve Structured Data: Ensure your products and store have complete and valid structured data. This helps search engines understand your content better and can improve your visibility in search results.

  2. Write Great Product Descriptions: Craft compelling product descriptions, SEO titles, and meta descriptions. These elements are crucial for attracting clicks from search engine results pages.

  3. Build Solid Collection Pages: Organize your products into well-structured collection pages. This not only helps with SEO but also improves user experience.

  4. Set Up a Blog: Adding a blog to your Shopify store allows you to create high-quality content that can attract more visitors. Use the blog to discuss topics related to your products and industry, which can help in building relationships with potential customers.

  5. Internal Linking Strategy: Develop a strong internal linking strategy to help guide visitors through your site and improve the SEO of individual pages.

  6. Use a Shopify SEO App: Consider using an SEO app like Yoast SEO for Shopify to streamline and enhance your SEO efforts.

  7. Keep Your Store Clean and Focused: Ensure your store is fast-loading and easy to navigate. Optimize images and reduce unnecessary apps to improve loading times.
