All things Shopify and commerce
Is the new reports only being rolled out a small number of people? Clearly it is, because if shopify had done this to everyone in the same day, there's no telling how they would have gone, because these new reports are not working, and the old ones are gone. My business is at a complete stand still. Anyone else facing this ?

This is an accepted solution.
The new reporting is terrible. it's overcomplicated and unnecessary - I feel like whoever designs this is not a merchant. We don't need the automatic charts or historical comparisons that cloud the data; those should be add-ons that users can seek out if they need it. I just want a simple list of best sellers 95% of the time I am checking within shopify for reports.

Not only that, but a report I used that was absolutly essential to my business is gone, it was customers over time. The new one does not have customer name. I'm in complete shock. I can't make this report now and we depended on it. Without it my business is shut down.
I cant even find how many products were Added to Cart!! All i needed was basic info, (visitors from my country, session duration, bounce rate & added to cart) but now that is all gone (or is hidden) and in its place is a myriad information that most sellers will never need. On Desktop it is very difficult to navigate, and on mobile it is completely impossible. To see anything now I need to SET VALUES. What used to take seconds, now takes forever and without the desired result. Might be time to make the move to Wordpress.
I am in the excat same situation. I could just cry, I am completly lost with these new analytics. The simplest information is impossible to find. It's a nightmare, I just feel like I can't pilot my business anymore because I am totally blind. What is the solution apart leaving Shopify ? Are there some Shopify representative to contact ?
I'd love to hear more about your issue, I'm making an embedded Shopify app, I'd love to integrate this in it.

Literally insane to me that the most basic data is seemingly impossible to obtain in one single report the way it use to.
All I need to know is what product sold on what date, for how much, for both online sales and in-store, and to be able to pull that report for the last 7 days… I have built out several reports in excel that rely solely on this information. This is how I know how much to pay my individual vendors (antique shop), etc.
Genuinely considering switching platforms if I’m unable to access these reports the way I need to. Plan to contact a representative this week on the matter.
Good luck to all the small business owners out there trying to stay afloat right now. I feel for you!!

Absolutely horrible. Just like when they changed the POS, its clear that these were never tested by actual customers. So frustrating how little they care about customer experience. Its all about the shareholders.
Way to roll this out at the start of the year! It's absolute garbage. (screaming into the void). Do better, ya hacks.
You can its done by a programmer. The code at the top in the prime location. .1% will use that.
nothing works. It takes 5 click more to do the same tasks. Just like ditching the pospro. More bad choices.
I'd like to chime in and give my two cents about this new analytics too. It's way too complicated, I get that updates are needed. But gosh, it's a bit ridiculous to force us to learn how to write SQL Queries in order to pull a simple report that was working before the update?! Yes we can migrate the old report to the new setup, but if you're like me I tend to make minor adjustments to the report (like changing the dates, or the product SKU) to get to the info I need. Now I need an IT degree to get to the info.
@Shopify, we're merchants, NOT programmers! Learn how your customers actually uses your platform before making changes like this!
The recent updates has me thinking of moving back to Wordpress, least I'll have control over the updates and the changes they may bring.
Well said!!
THe new analytics is not useful at all. Too complicated and not in anyway helpful to small business owners. I can no longer see a simple statistic of how many items where added to cart. This was a good feature that allowed me to monitor a new product.
Why shopify have removed this, is completely daft. Most likely as they will roll this out as a paid feature this year.
THey do not care about the small business owner with these changes.
I agree this terrible
I share your concerns, but I'm here to highlight a possible solution. As of this date, my old reports are still there but under a different tab. Try going to Analytics - Reports and then look for an option to view Previous Custom Reports. If you have some in this section, you can continue to use them but be careful not to select the Migrate to New Analytics System. Secondly, I debugged the new system to get the data I want and here's a clue that may help you. I needed sales by vendor and product type, but found the data only included a portion of my sales. I found that the data that is reported under the Dimensions (new way to sort on the right hand side) for Product Title only included products that currently are in my system. Those that I deleted during the reporting period don't report there. So I reformatted this report to only show Product Title at the Time of the Sale and voila, all of my sales showed up. These new reports and format are horrible, but you may find ways to get the data you need. i found the person who tried to help me today on chat was not remotely knowledgeable, so I feel, I'm on my own.
This is EXACTLY the issue I've been having - data missing for the products and vendors that are no longer in the system but I still want info on -- so I will try your solution and get back to you! I was talking to a help rep again yesterday and they were not really able to understand the issue. Interestingly, when I tried running the report yesterday some of the historical data did show up, but it was incomplete. Around one third of the sales were not attributed to any vendor and those vendors that did show up were missing some of their sales.
Nope. Those same vendors are still missing for some reason. I can find a record of their sales if I search the Orders and if I export that data the Vendor name and Product titles are there, but they don't show up in the Sales by Vendor report. Also, not all the sales are appearing. I have one Vendor that only shows selling 5 items during the entire summer, when they actually sold 14 in July alone. So anyway, I'll keep hoping there is a bug they are working on and will fix!
I have reported a very similar issue as well. lets see if we get any solutions.
Try changing the dimension to Vendors at the Time of the Sale and Product Title at Time of the Sale. Hope this helps.
Shopify removed the button to revert to old reports, but they are still there if you know the direct link: https://admin.shopify.com/store/YOURSHOPNAME/reports/
I am dependent on the accurate display of data in the old sales report, which is firstly not available anymore, at least via the German UI, and secondly the new analytics fail to correctly assign some sales to the correct vendor. Exports of the same data in the same period with the old analytics correctly display the data. I just hope they don't remove old analytics fully, because then we will be forced to move aways from Shopify. We need the correct data to accuratly calculate payouts to some of our vendors.
Wow thank you this worked for me to get the report that they strangley no longer provide in the new reports system. It is called "Total Sales" and is just the general bookkeeping information needed, date, billing country/region, price paid with discounts shipping etc.
I was able to rebuild it in the new system column by column which was quite a hassle as they changed the names of the columns and have to be arranged in order.
Hoping that this link continues to work next month, thanks a lot for this suggestion!
Hi Andrew, How did you rebuild this report? I'm looking for Total Sales All Channels.
INCOMPETENT FOOLS (SHOPIFY). Zero help.
The previous one was not good in any consideration; not user-specific customizeable and user-friendly, lack of necessary features. And the new one is just useless, complicated and far-more worse.
There's a quick update. Sorry to jump into conclusions not digging deep. Though this new analytics looks complicated, it is really well custizeable. You can make your report as you want. If you are not familiar with sql, just play around a little bit, you will finally figure it out. It's not complicated as it seems to be. I am open to help if need any.
Hi! I am a consultant who helps customers restore these necessary reports! Email me if you would like help here connor@tadpull.com
I can't pay some of my vendors from Q4 because the new reporting no longer lets you see product names of custom sales. It has every custom sale done by POS in one group labeled "None." I haven't found a workaround either. Any ideas on how I can view custom sales now???
Shopify, please go back to the old reports!!!
Do you think it's be a good idea to make a Shopify app that simulates the old reporting ?
Not only is the reporting suite inadequate, but the data is rubbish. I've just been on to Shopify help to try to understand why my store's sales infortmation is incorrect and they have advised that it will take 72 hours after sales before the information is updated. So much for rela-tine tech. Love the "no worries" comment. Complete farce.
I am so frustrated I could cry. The new reporting is horrible. One of the only reports I use is impossible to figure out now. PLEASE SWITCH "SALES BY PRODUCT" BACK SHOPIFY!
Yes I need this one too. When I try to add multiple product types to the new reports it comes up with zero results... This company is full of morons who do zero real life testing or research before launching new products.
So with the help of support I was able to get the data I needed. Its just hard to find at first, at least with the reports I use (customers over time)
It feels like it takes a bit longer than before to get the same info, but I suppose there is more info available now. I was freaking out at first though because a support person told me "customer name is no longer available on this report" . It is , its just in a different place.
I am in the same situtation. IT IS A REAL NIGHTMARE. I am unable to find my key metrics such as my fulfilled orders, the comparison with the past etc... The worse part is that any of my metrics do make sense. They are all wrong based on the excel file I am downloading. @Shopify bring us back the old dashboard !!!!
We discovered today the main reports we used to use no longer appear to be available. User-friendly analytics and reporting WAS a big plus to using Shopify in the past. We haven't explored in thoroughly but the new reports are certainly not easy to navigate, and extremely frustrating. This is not a good update so hopefully it isn't permanent or we might have to switch platforms.
I do have thank the @Shopify team for listening to my feedback. When I created a Sales by Vendor report today I was once again able to see historical data that includes vendors who are no longer currently in the shop. This is a HUGE relief to once again have that information accessible!
Anyone, can you shoose a "total Sale" like the old one?
The support showed me that they can use it like it was before but no no not in my language (swedish). I have no "Totale sale" anymore. Its more complexed.
I was just starting to make alot of reports for accounting and I just WHAT HAPPEND??
I need to have reports of tax for every sold product between different days..
I tried some report but now, the field of products in the report is not showing the full size of what kind of product and name.. Now its like 50% size.
Any solutions?
Thanks!
Hi, just because we were having the exact same problem, which is still not solved. We also don't have it anymore (german shop) and needed the exact same report (in german it was "Gesamtumsatz")
The old analytics are still there: https://admin.shopify.com/store/YOURSHOPNAME/reports/
No its gone! I tried..
Did you get an error code? 🙂
No! The page doesn´t exits! /Anders
You have to insert your shopname in this URL exactly, you can find out the exact wording, if you look at the URL you get on your main page after logging in to shopify. so for example if it would be: https://admin.shopify.com/store/examplestore/
then you would have to use the link https://admin.shopify.com/store/examplestore/reports/
If you just use the link I posted originally unaltered , you will not get a working link.
WORKED!! 😃
Thanks for the tip! I tried doing that and it worked perfectly ... all the historical data showed up as it should
Also WARNING to everyone: The reported data is in many cases FALSE, compared to old data. I did exports in both the new version and old version and numbers just did not add up for certain vendors. The new analytics tool is assigning certain sales to vendor "NONE" or the default one. (I don't know what it's called in the EN version, it's "Keine" in German). The old analytics tool is assigning those sales correctly to the respective vendors. DO NOT TRUST the new analytics numbers.
Yes, I had exactly the same experience, resulting in false data
This new reporting UI is frustrating. Why are we trying to make getting reports harder?
