Is the new reports only being rolled out a small number of people? Clearly it is, because if shopify had done this to everyone in the same day, there's no telling how they would have gone, because these new reports are not working, and the old ones are gone. My business is at a complete stand still. Anyone else facing this ?

This is an accepted solution.
The new reporting is terrible. it's overcomplicated and unnecessary - I feel like whoever designs this is not a merchant. We don't need the automatic charts or historical comparisons that cloud the data; those should be add-ons that users can seek out if they need it. I just want a simple list of best sellers 95% of the time I am checking within shopify for reports.
This new reporting UI is frustrating. Why are we trying to make getting reports harder?
Thank you for writing this. over complicated Please step back and look how hard you have made this.
Very frustrating to find that the most basic Sales report is missing. I just need need my previous month sales in the same format I'm used to but it's gone. Can't seem to recreate it either since some of the columns can't be added. Overcomplicated mess that is great for extremely specific comparative reports but can't get a basic bookkeeping sales file download. Support was no help at all told me to try to rebuild it after sending them the old sales file I've been downloading for years. PLEASE GIVE ME MY BASIC SALES REPORT BACK!!!!
Please refer to my other replies, for most themes the old analytics page should still be accessible.
Yes, it worked thank you!
For those trying to find the old reports Donaustern2017 kindly wrote this in his reply above which gives access to the old reports:
Shopify removed the button to revert to old reports, but they are still there if you know the direct link: https://admin.shopify.com/store/YOURSHOPNAME/reports/
Thank you for this info!
This is exactly what I need right now, I hope Shopify listens and makes it easier for us.
I tried this....and it worked great for the last few months...but the link with my store name doesn't take me to the old reports any more. Have Shopify changed their tack and restricted access again? Has anyone else had a similar issue? Any suggestions how to access the old reporting suite? Many thanks
Hi Michael, I have just encountered this unfortunate fact as well. The link no longer works and brings you to the standard new Reports section. It seems they have a report for everything you could ever imagine except of course the most basic fundamental report which was called Total Sales before.
What did I sell to Who, Where was it sent to and How much did it cost with breakdown of gross, net, discount, shipping tax. Should be obvious that the majority of owners doing their own basic bookkeeping would need access to a file like this. Keep it simple silly!
I used the customization to rebuild the old Total Sales file columns with no comparison for previous month and saved it as a template. Was a nuisance to do and not entirely the same but I guess it will have to do.
In case it helps anyone, here are the columns I went with to replicate the old file Total Sales. Of course they inconveniently changed the column names to something not quite the same so a direct search to find them didn't work making it a pain in the patootie!
Day | Order name | Line type | Billing country | Billing region | Billing city | Shipping country | Shipping region | Shipping city | Product title | Product variant title | Quantity ordered | Gross sales | Discounts | Returns | Net sales | Shipping charges | Taxes | Total sales |
Continued:
Net sales | Shipping charges | Taxes | Total sales |
I was off on my inventory reconciliation for January, and found the issue to be Returns. The basic report is including Returns In Progress (that have not been refunded or restocked yet), and on orders where the refund and restock happened in the same month, those are netting to zero where they obviously should be included. I ended up going through every January return order manually, and figuring out correct returns that way. Then I was able to add filters** to the report to return exactly what I needed. I was on chat with Shopify Support over the last couple days and they say the reports are working as expected, but the work I had to do to get accurate results is ridiculous.
** If anyone is curious, the filters needed were
"Order or Return" is Return
"Refund ID" is NOT 0 or None
"Product Variant SKU" is NOT None
and, under Dimensions, I added "Order or Return", "Order Name", "Refund ID", "Sale ID", and "Product Variant SKU"
Yes these new reports are terrible, unnecessary, the data is inconsistent and such a headache. God knows who designed this and why ?????. We want the old analytics dashboard back. Shopify please make doing business for us easy not a headache. Especially after the google analytics tag and pixels moved to customer events.
Shopify analytics have been **bleep** for more than 2 years now. They tell you "they work on it". It is just a f*cking joke what they do and the new update is as **bleep** as it was before. The conversiondata is still as poor as it was. I dont really know what kind of work they did for the past 2 years. But they the deliver so much **bleep**.
Every year they have a "Shopify Winter event" to come up with new "updates". But fixing problem is to difficult for almost 2 years. If they put the energy in were it should be, make shopify analytics work as good as it was, instead of this bull**bleep** update in their "events".
