Many Initiated Checkouts But Few Sales In Comparison - WHY??

hey all. I have recently found out that there are many customers on my page who fill out their names, email, adress, and stay subscribed however do not purchase anything. Its worrying since the ratio is quite large. The adresses and emails all seem legit so I doubt these are just people spying or doing it for the algorithm to get more stores shown in their ads.

So far I have done test purchases and it all worked. The products are added to the market and shipping zones have all been made.

Does anybody have any idea what might be the issue or how I could find it out? I am willing to try all!

Thanks people

Make sure you set-up all shipping zones are rates correctly. Made test with customer address to be sure it's not based by address.

will try that however I already did plenty of tests with real adresses in the country and it worked fine, though it was failing at the beginning.

Hi @ManuelHKindly consider the following suggestions:

- Checkout Process: Make sure your checkout process is smooth and user-friendly. Any hiccups here can lead to cart abandonment.

- Payment Methods: Ensure you offer various payment options. Some customers might leave if their preferred method isn’t available.

- Shipping Costs: High shipping costs or lack of free shipping options can deter purchases. Consider adjusting these if possible.

- Website Speed: Slow-loading pages can frustrate users and lead to drop-offs. Optimize your website speed.

- Trust Signals: Ensure your site looks trustworthy with clear contact information, return policies, and customer reviews.

Best wishes.

Hi Manuel,

If you’re after customer insights before purchase, I have just launched QCards Checkout Surveys

It’s an App you can install to setup question cards that you can drop in your checkout. To ask key questions about your checkout drop off.

When I last used it, I had a conversion rate of 50% with about 150 responses in a day.

I am offering the first 50 merchants to install to have free premium subscription.

You’ll need checkout extensibility enabled which you can contact myself or shopify support about.

Hi ManuelH,

I see that you got a few pointers in replies, I would add one more: in order to be able to improve conversions you need to have more data on what is happening. You need to know which products are attracting the views, going through the funnel but in the end getting abandoned, so that you can analyse and improve also you product offering. I know that Shopify does not help here, there is no product level views/conversion rates available so this is where an app like Datma can help. You can take a look at the reports regarding products we offer in our free (no login/registration required) demo: https://demo.datma.io/shopify/reporting/metrics/1416 . Also there is a generous 30 day free trial if you want to check out this reports on your own stores' data.

Best,
Peter @ Datma
