Hello!

I have just started an online adult store, at www.sxtopia.co.uk I have read and followed some of the ideas from the other threads that are similar. I was just wondering if anyone might have a chance to give it a quick once-over and see if they have any feedback? Any ideas on pushing further than social advertising would also be much appreciated.

Many thanks in advance!

Rob from SXTOPIA

Hi Rob.

Just took a look on your store.

Congratulations, it seems very well designed and clean to me. Not spammy, good product descriptions, nice content as well.

Now, in terms of boosting traffic and sales.

Due to your niche, I'd strongly suggest first to work on improving conversion on your store from the existing traffic and then work on increasing the traffic.

In other words, due to the fact that you can't advertise on social and buy traffic you should try to get as much as possible from the existing traffic. To achieve this, you should work on specific elements of your website, like a bit of urgency/scarcity, exit intent popups when visitors are on cart/checkout pages, maybe even popups with offers when people browses for like more than a minute. Also, capturing e-mails and messenger subscribers will be of great help to your store.

Now, in terms of increasing your traffic, you should hassle a bit more than the traditional online business. You should try all the free ways to promote your store, like content, youtube channel (if possible), blogs related to your niche etc.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

As facebook/google ads doesn't allow advertising adult websites, the best alternative is to advertise in adult blogs/forums.

You can also pay for banners in some adult website, just look on google for websites accepting advertisement.

I hope this may help.

Hi @sxtopia welcome to Shopify community

Hope your business is going well during these difficult times. I checked your store website, and I have a few tips and feedback I'd like to share,

1. Send abandoned cart emails: If you have lots of traffic and little sales due to abandoned carts so you can get lost revenue using abandonment email campaigns. There are many Automated tools for abandoned carts. They can help you increase sales and re-engage visitors to your site who have left. You can also send promotional emails to your subscriber's list.

2. Resourceful guidance & help: Not having support or not having adequate information is a huge frustration for a lot of online buyers. Consider adding a chat plugin to your site for people to contact you while they are shopping.

3.
Good navigation provides an improved user experience leading to more sales and revenue. Add a top navigation bar with the product catalog broken down into different collections & categories so that customers can quickly browse and reach their desired products faster. Also, have an auto-complete and suggestion feature in the search bar so that it provides an extra helping hand to relatable collections and products will also be useful.

4. Adding product stickers/trust badges can help increase your sales by tapping into powerful psychological triggers such as scarcity, social proof, and urgency. Also having graphic and personalised stickers on products will help grab attention of customers easily and nudge them to purchase.

I hope this helps!

Munawar.

Hi. I just had a look at your site, and it seemed to run really slow for me, which is a turn off for many people.

You also have to remember that the curiosity factor for your products will mean a lot of people just coming to have a look, including teenage boys lol.

I agree with the comment above about trying to increase the sales on existing traffic, rather than trying to bring in new traffic. If you cant get a conversion rate of somewhere between 2-4% on existing traffic, you wont get any more with more traffic. So look at what inhibitors there are on your site for people to change their curiosity into action. I run an adult products site in Australia, www.bedbuddies.com.au and Im working hard on trying to increase conversion rate rather than increase traffic. Things to consider in this realm:

1. site load speed - slow is crap and people will bounce before even looking at your products

2. call to action - what are you doing to incentivise your customer?

3. shipping options - I didnt see anything obvious around discreet shipping which is VERY important for adult products. Nobody wants a box labelled SEX DOLL delivered to their door.

4. niche down - you have already done this to some extent by just picking sex dolls, but geez you have too many to choose from, which could paralyse your buyer. When they cant make a decision because there are too many options, they wont make a decision.

Hope this helps.
