Hi @Gunasekar,

Have you reached out to Google directly about this? I'm thinking they might be best to look into why this might be as Shopify wouldn't have much to do with what the Google Merchant center approves or disapproves. You can see their help center support page here and the contact is at the bottom highlighted in the screenshot below:

Let me know if there is something more Shopify specific and I can take a closer look into it for you.

Thanks, Nick

We have contacted google ads team many times. But there is no proper
response and not given the exact problem in our account. Also there is no
call support to explain about our business activities.

I can see how that could be very frustrating for sure.

From what you mentioned in your initial topic, they say it has violated something in their Unnaceptebale business policy linked here. Is there anything in the policy you feel could be the cause of this? I wish there was more Shopify or I could do or tell you, but this would be something you need to talk to Google about directly.

To learn more visit the Shopify Help Center or the Community Blog.

You need to add a business address and opening hours. As you are suspended, the requirements are now higher then normal.

There could be many reasons, I recommend having a look at the following policies:

You can ask Google for specific examples of policy violation. To do so ask here and check the box, I need more info : https://support.google.com/merchants/contact/suspended

Hope this helps.

Hi All,

My GMC was suspended for "unacceptable business practices ". Turned out it was because of a shopify app I was using for pop ups and getting customer e mails . There are so many websites i see that get emails like this but may be their pop ups come a little later or on exit or are integrated and not intrusive.

However, after I removed it, my suspension was not lifted and the reason now given is "misrepresentation ".  I have updated all pages and contact info, am not dropshipping. Is there something else on my hero image that is misleaidng ? Or anything else ?

Should you be selling exactly what is on your hero image ( everything ) and the link should take you to buy the exact same thing ? I am using a lifestyle image and not selling all the things I have. Could that be an issue ?

Appreciate any help by you experts . My website is

Thanks all

There can be many issues, to find out all the issues the website and feed needs to be fully analyzed. If you want to do this yourself, then you need to check the policies.

Please also note that now trust factor is a criteria. Meaning if your trust signals are low, you will not get approved regardless of following policies. And you will need to work on this.

Did any one get to the bottom of this?

I am having the same issues and the response from Google is pathetic!  they keep cutting and pasting the same rubbish and expect me to resolve something they will not tell me what it is I am supposed to resolve!

My last ticket I changed to call me not email me and they email me again with the same cut and paste.  I reached out to shoplifty to ask their help and the response was very detailed and went thru their list and again we are not doing anything on there

Frustrating is not the word I am feeling at the moment, but more annoyed google employs people to cut and paste every response without any explanation

SO I deleted the merch account, the ad account and the email that it associates with

Went down the list of contact page, shipping, clear pricing etc etc and then applied for google again

Guess what "Account suspended due to policy violation: Misrepresentation"

Seriously - I have sent them another email and asked no less that 10 times - show me on my website where the problem is, do not reply with a cut and paste response

I wait to see what they say, bet you it is cut and paste reply

Google has for around 3 or 4 years started to not provide details regarding suspensions. The reason is that spammers and dishonest merchants abuse Google Shopping and if they know how to circumvent policy violations then their platform will fail. As nobody would trust Google Shopping to buy products.

This means honest merchants that struggle to implement policy requirements, suffer.

This is a sad reality.

4 Years ago, if I forgot to implement something for a client, Google would explain what I need to do. Since then no such info is provided.

My advice, either study up on the policies, learn from others' mistakes, do research etc... Or hire someone to help you.

Also the reason there are so many strict rules is that a top executive at Google got scammed on a product that he bought on Google Shopping. Due to this scam, the top level executive enforced stricter policies and how suspensions are handled. Just a little back story on the main reason.

@EmmanuelFlossie  Hello Emmanuel, I have a question and I hope you will not mind answering it. I tried google ads like a year ago but my GMC and google ads account got suspended and after so many tries to get them back I could not and then moved on to other Platforms like Facebook... well long story short, I'm into google again and I have created a new GMC and google ads account with new information and using new laptop so basically that's new ip, but I'm opening my personal gmail accounts from the same computer among these gmails are one that I used when I got suspended. My GMC is suspended now due to "misrepresentation", but I think the reason is my website not following a lot of google policies as I have checked and not mainly because they find out about me, but I'm not sure you can confirm that based on your experience. I have set up my google ads account but I have not added the billing info yet as I'm waiting for Payooner to deliver my card so that I can use it. Is it okay if the card is under the same name, one that got suspended basically my name, but with different numbers because since it's a new card there will be different numbers than ones that were in the first one, or they will flag me again? Overall is this a safe route to take or they will flag me again? Are the billing info in the google ads account and the Payooner card supposed to be the same? because as I said the card will be under my name but in the google ads I have another name? I hope you will be able to take out of your time and answer my questions based on your experience so as to clear up this confusion.

Thanks again for your help to everyone here.

1) Create new accounts when the original accounts are still suspended, which is called circumventing policy violation, and is a reason for another suspension but more serious.

2) Trying to use techniques to hide or trick Google are all reasons for the suspension.

3) I do not know anything about Google Ads suspensions, only Google Merchant Center.

My guess, you will get suspended again, and might end up getting a permanent ban.

UPDATE: Misrepresentation has gone

OK, so if you followed my previous comments you will know that I was suspended for Misrepresentation will today that has cleared

I deleted my google account, merchant account and ad account and removed all my listings from google - even unticking the google shopping on Shopify

I have reapplied and started again and all appears to be good

I still dont have any products pushed to Google yet, as wanted to see if the error occurred (if it had it is web related - if not it is product related)

I am going to leave it a little longer, then start to add the products per department, to see where the issue was

Ill keep you posted

BTW there are people on this forum trying to get you to part money for their services, I am doing my own thing but if you feel you wanna send me cash and ill tell you what is on the already on the web I am more than happy to take ya money LOL

If caught, say goodbye to your future on Google Ads.

This is a warning to honest merchants if they value their future. As I get a lot of customers to complain that they followed some guide, or advice online, assuming it was ok, to only regret the decision.

So if you do not want to hire someone for the service, ask your questions on Google's official Ads community: https://support.google.com/google-ads/community?hl=en

Congratulations on being a silver product expert (if you are a product expert already), keep up the great work and maybe in a 5+ years you will become platinum or diamond expert like me. If you like some advice and want to know more about advertising, feel free to ask the questions on our private community board.

However, I have not seen you say hello or post anything in the private silver community? I can't see any contributions on the community? Are you using a different name?

Also, my biggest advice for you, when helping fellow merchants, always to reference official documentation. Otherwise, anything you say without official Google docs can be misleading and or incorrect. And even if the info was once correct, the document you referenced will be updated by Google, thus avoiding you ever stating anything incorrect.

And when you are an official Google Ads Product Expert, you have the responsibility to not say anything incorrect.

Therefore, as you have indicated you want to be a Google Ads Product Expert, you can not mislead others. I like to read the policy again regarding circumventing policy violations: https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/6150118?hl=en

I would recommend you to post a public link from our Google Ads Community with the same statements you made here on Shopify, so that Shopify community members can follow up on your findings, and see that other experts have verified that your statements are accurate.

No I just proved a point that you can be an expert by clicking a couple of buttons and getting a badge

If people wish to pay for services, that is there look out - simply pointing out there are people on here to make money rather than help and use google search to put links on here (like yourself) when you no access to Google itself

If you have looked at my previous comments you will have noticed deleting an account is what Google (I have various emails to prove it) advised if issue cannot be resolved to do (They work for google, not a web surfer)

The link you keep posting is manipulation of the account - you cannot ban an account that does not excist

Now I will get back to the real world and leave you to try and make money from your services

For everyone else, will let you know how I get on - if it is a working solution

Signing up for a program does not automatically make you a specialist, nor does it show you that you have any qualified experience. You're just making up things to fit your narrative.

You assume that people hire me because I am a Platinum Product Expert, the only thing you focusing on is what is in my signature. 95% of my customers hire me, because I have helped them online, or they have found my info useful, or see that I have knowledge. And they need a person like me, to help them navigate Google's complexities.

There is no need for you to have a personal vendetta against me, just because I am sharing official documentation, to warn others, which they can read and make their own assumptions.

I did not say you lied, or that you are wrong. I said that the person at Google who sent you this info is wrong. Because it simply violates the policy Circomventing Policy Violation

Quote:

  • retailers who attempt to bypass our review processes

Reference: https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/6150118?hl=en

Creating a new account is bypassing the review because the review led to a suspension.

Even if you don't read the policy, anyone would understand that creating multiple accounts when you have an existing suspended account, should raise red flags.

You see, the only way to avoid a permanent suspension, triggered by the above violation, is by closing down the new accounts, and resolve the original account suspension.

If you are confident your tactic is allowed, do you mind sharing your website URL? I would like to talk to my CM's about your website. As you say, you are not violating this policy, there should be no reason for you to worry?

If what you say is allowed, I happily admit I'm wrong. But I need confirmation from Google with my CM's, to do so, I need a reference so they can track down all the communication you had with Google. Thank you for sharing in advance, this will help resolve this discussion on my end.

I have thousands of posts, 50 or so videos, and hundreds of pages of content all free info on how to do everything related to Google Shopping yourself. And yes, even regarding how to resolve suspensions, is also freely available on my website. I offer a service for merchants that either don't have the time, experience, or patience to do it themselves.

So yes, I make a living out of helping merchants achieve their goals. I have been doing this for 12 years. Like anyone working to stay alive, they get paid for the services provided. You sell products to earn a living, I offer services.

I hope you can take the time of sharing your findings on our Google Ads Community here: https://support.google.com/google-ads/community?hl=en

I also encourage you to use my public info, there is a lot of info that can help you improve your advertising, avoid suspensions, install required codes and more.

In any case, the only purpose of my replies is to educate merchants and avoid making mistakes. If you look at all my posts, articles, videos, etc. You should see the helping mentality I have.

I truly hope you get approved, and nothing worse comes out of your new accounts. Best of luck to you.

I found your website: https://jinsted.co.uk/

Here are things you are currently violating, and there are many more issues

Images, can not contain watermarks, logos or branding. Reference: https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/6324350

If you sold the facemask after April 2020, then this is the reason for suspension. Reference: https://support.google.com/adspolicy/answer/6015406#:~:text=Sensitive%20events

And: https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/9811449

You need a billing terms and conditions page. Reference: https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/6363310?hl=en-GB

You need a shipping policy page. There is no direct policy regarding this, but it is required.

You have no track record of order fulfillment: https://www.google.com/shopping/ratings/account/lookup?q=www.jinsted.co.uk

You are missing availability status on your product landing page. reference: https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/4752265

However, if you resolve all these issues, I doubt you will get approved due to multiple accounts. So make sure you close down any new accounts. Study up on the policies and then request a review.

I gave up. Sometimes I think Google just doesn't want to give it to some websites, regardless if they qualify or not, and are within google policy requirements. Ive launched a website a month ago and been trying to get approved on GMC for this whole month, and no matter what i do...its always an immediate response within 1 hour of "NO" - Account suspended due to policy violation: Misrepresentation.

I have all necessary policy pages they wanted in both footer and in cart/checkout, a contact us page with all requirements, email, address, phone. And yet, they still wont tell me why they keep giving me the same cookie cutter response of "misrepresentation". Even in multiple appeals (after being on 'cooldown' twice) where its asks if you would like to receive a phone call for updates, i always check (CALL ME)...and they never do.

Its always the same cookie cutter email response of "Account suspended due to policy violation: Misrepresentation"....always. Ive launched over 10+ websites using GMC in the past with zero issues, and i know how to set these up properly and follow the Google rules.....but for some reason, this new website they just refuse to active this one.

I simply just gave up and will give my marketing money to elsewhere.

@SaberStuff  recently I have discovered that the problem can be shopify itself...

I created EXACT COPY of my store using another leading ecommerce platform. I have disconmected from google my shopify store and connected other platform. 2hr and missrepresentation has disappeared from my google merchant account.

I am assuming that it have something to do with policy (eg maybe it need to contain that you using shopify to run your business?), anyway today I have closed my shopify store because I had enough guessing what can be wrong. And basically after this post I'll close my account on the shopify forum, because I have enough of reading so called "pro" about paying them to fix the store.

It could be my account history as I had another account previously that a

fine. I am using google search ads and getting some sales but I want to see
what ROAS i can get with google shopping ads.

@Vranklin yes I have. I have helped a lot of merchants. However, the success rate is very low for drop shippers. The reason non of my clients are complaining about my services is because I am honest and upfront about everything.

The ones that wanted to leave a review of my service have done so here: https://www.trustpilot.com/review/feedarmy.com

And if you want to learn by yourself, read all my posts here: https://support.google.com/google-ads/search?q=emmanuel+flossie&from_promoted_search=true

Please note, dropshipping is allowed, however, the issue is that a lot of merchants, just slap together with little effort and not reading policies. And in all honesty, Google's policies for a merchant are very complex. And this is where all the issues come from, simply not reading or not finding all related policies.

And this is what my service is about, I have read all policies, and learned from helping other merchants personally and publicly over 12 years. Based on this experience I check your websites and Google Merchant Center for compliance. I do not offer any tricks or magic solutions. There are non. Just explaining to you all the issues I find and provide guidance on how to resolve them.

My consultation only helps you comply with policies, and help you improve your trust factors. There is no guarantee, of success. Do not hire anyone that claims a guarantee, as I am a Google Ads Premier Partner, I am not allowed to make any claims.

@Anonymous person. Don't hire a person that claims to fix your store, yes if it's a technical proven issue, for example, structured data is wrong, and you can fix it with coding. Never ever hire someone to resolve a suspended account on Google assuming it is 100% possible to get approved again. It is not. You need to work on several points. 1) Comply with Google policies, for example, @Jinsted did not, and I kindly provided all the official documentation. 2) Comply with local laws. 3) Have a high enough trust factor 4) Have a track record of order fullfillment.

@Jinsted Feel free to ask questions for help on Google Ads: https://support.google.com/google-ads/community?hl=en If you want more info.

So. Recently I have discovered what is causing misrepresentation, here are some crucial reasons:

1. Dropshipping - under google Policy, you cannot sell with them dropshipped products.

2. If in the past you had some company but right now it doesn't exist anymore,  you need to delete it from google.

3. You need to register your company (LLC will do the work, DBA no)

4. If in the past you have opened a Gmail account with some other name, or nickname, you need to correct this and put your real data.

5. you need to have exactly the same data within other big providers ( Apple, Microsoft, Yahoo, etc), yes Google is checking this.

6. in all Google services you need to have the exact same information about yourself and your company, you can be rejected even if you'll put a "." in the wrong place.

7. Another thing which is being checked by google - sale & resale permission.

Hopefully, this will help you!

PS: I know those things because been sitting with google rep on the phone for more than 2 hours and my account won't gonna be unsuspended, because in 2009 I have opened an email account with the address from another country, where I have been living, in my situation problem is that I do not remember the login to that account

Edit:  He have given me a hint on how to resolve this problem, but in my situation, it won't gonna work because it includes "right's to be forgotten" with all services (Facebook, Microsoft, Google, eBay, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc) I am running a couple of businesses and I cannot do that, everything that I have been building my whole life will disappear.

Thanks ill have to look into this further since i do have drop shipped items available on my site and i am a DBA. I don't see why they wouldn't allow a DBA since its a perfectly valid business.

Your policy on the website, kinda sucks, really sucks, do not use Shopify premade policy, because it is not compliant with google policy. you need to create your own.

1) Drop shipping is allowed, there is currently no restrictions. This was the case 3+ years ago, since then the only requirement is to stock products. more info: https://feedarmy.com/kb/can-you-drop-ship-on-google-shopping/

2) That sounds correct

3) There is no such requirement

4) That sounds correct

5) That is correct, however only public data

6) That sound correct, not sure about the dot, but yes I would make sure everything is correct

7) That is correct on certain brands that have serious issues with spam, dishonest merchants, counterfeit related products, or digital licenses such as Microsoft software

Lastly, yes having multiple businesses tends to be a negative, in general 1 business = 1 website.

@Jinsted deleting accounts and recreating it, is a serious violation and its called circumventing policy violation. IE you are trying to avoid the policy. This may cause a permanent ban.

This is incorrect both Shopify and Google advised me to do this .  Google have advised this at the bottom of their emails on numerous occasions

Please note that Shopify does not know Google Policies. That is like asking Facebook support how to install Microsoft Word.

Google support team always suggest these, but you are talking to support, not the policy team. What Google support says is incorrect. You can read: https://support.google.com/adspolicy/answer/6020954?hl=en

Please note, my advice is based on my experience. And what I suggest is only to help you avoid violations.

Your notes are noted and so is the service you are selling on your website for this issue

Shopify has advised me, with details of googles policies - not some random notes

On a plus side Google has responded

You can upload a dummy feed and get it tested before you go live, not tried it yet as letting my account settle, let me know if anyone has any luck with the link

@EmmanuelFlossie

dropshipping is not allowed, please refer to the google forum: https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/6150127  "you must stock all goods in your warehouse", all dropshipping applications are adding something to the source code of your website, do you think that google during crawling will not find this? do you think that Google doesn't know if you have looked on google for eg sentence "how to dropship successfully" or similar? every time on the internet you're leaving a mark, like your IP, browser, etc.

Please update your website, because right now dropshipping on google is classified as an "unavailable promotions" and google is hitting hard on it. thousands of dropshipping stores are being affected.   please watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xY_Ke60s1hM

Damn, I think my post should be stick to somewhere on forum in important answers about that problem because I have just answered on thousands of posts on the Shopify forum 🙂

It is not you who have posted on the google forum that dropshipping is not allowed on google merchant center? ---> https://support.google.com/google-ads/thread/32874386?hl=en

I am assuming that in your post here, you have written about google shopping, but the topic which we are discussing here is about google merchant center :),

Google Merchant Center is the data feed processing area for Google Shopping.

You are quoting a post that is months old IE October 2010, if you look at my article it is after that post-September.

I have thousands of posts, if I have to update all my posts when Google changes their info, I would be doing nothing else than editing.

I can confirm that Drop Shipping is not a reason for suspension by my Community Manager at Google Ads Community.

Your suspension is most likely due to multiple websites, generally 1 business = 1 website.

Especially if you have overlapping search terms, then this is considered abuse of ad network.

Also Google as of April 2020 uses 3rd party resources to check your trust factor. So there are a lot more requirements after April 2020, compared to before.

My advise to you, do not use old posts, even if its just 1 month as correct. Always check if old posts are still valid to avoid getting yourself thinking the wrong info.

With the ever-changing policies, Google has a lot of updates every month.

Also there is no such mention of your warehouse. Make sure to read the policy as it is written as otherwise, yes you will assume wrongly. If you look at the specific policy, it states Promoting products that are not stocked. It does not specify warehouse. Reference: https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/6150127#:~:text=Unavailable%20promotions

And I will not update my info based on unverified user info. My articles are based on Google's official documentation and Google's Community Managers info.

I hope this helps.

Hi All,

My store is https://decormantra.com.au/

I have checked everything many times and checked with support too but for
some reason I dont get approved . Error is "misrepresentation "

Could it be because my e mail id doesn't match my domain or because i offer
shipping outside australia too in my shipping policy but dont have a fixed
rate or policy for it ?

Or anything else ?

Thanks all

For example you have no contact page in the footer of all your pages. While yes, you have it in the header, it also needs to be in the footer.
