Merge different SKU into one product

Merge different SKU into one product

Hello.

I would like to make it so that I have several different SKU products under the same product page.

Example:

I sell used iPhones.

I have:

1 iPhone 13 128GB - Black - Like new. SKU: 1234

1 iPhone 13 128GB - Black - Like new. SKU: 12345

Both products have different SKUs but are the same product.

I would like to have these 2 iPhones under ONE product page with variants.

So if a customer makes an order, it just takes 1 of the 2 iPhones in stock.

Hope it makes sense.

Hi @Dclootbox ,

Would you please let me know the reason for having two different SKUs for the same product?

Why cannot you have one SKU and adjust the quantity for the product to 2?

Please clarify these so that I can help you further.

Because our accountant must be able to see which iPhones we buy and sell.

So we can see exactly which iPhone with IMEI number has been sold.

okay so there is a way around it.

You have to create seperate variants for a single product and add different SKU for each one and may be you can add IMEI number as the barcode if your barcode field is empty. If your barcode field is not empty you can create metafield and store IMEI in that.

Now with the help of the custom liquid code you have to hide both variants from store front so that customer can see the only the product and not the variant.

When customers buy the product, the default or the first variant will get out of stock and you can create a custom flow using shopify flow app (free app) which can delete the variant if it becomes out of stock, so that your in stock variant will become the default one and customers can easily buy that.

You can also create custom reports using the IMEI metafield to manage for your accountant.

Let me know if you understand all of this. I know it might be complicated for you but this is the best solution for you. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

If you want I can implement this solution on your store, just need collaborator access to your store and I will implement it (for free) if you want.

But can i add like 10 of the samme iPhone, into one product page with variants ? All 10 iPhones are exactly the same, but with different SKU.

So if a customer buy: iPhone 13 (variant: Black) (variant: 128GB) (variant: Like new) , it just take one of the 10 iPhone?

I dont want all 10 iPhone on one collections page. Only the one with all variant

Yes it is possible to add 10 same iphone in same product with different SKU, when customer places the order it will automatically decrease its inventory. On collection page it will show as one product only.

If you look for a way to do this process automatically, you can use the Merges app (https://apps.shopify.com/merges) to combine your separate iPhone listings into a single product with variants. Since each variant name must be unique, you’ll need to differentiate them slightly—this can be done by adding a number or including the SKU in the variant name. For example:

  • iPhone 13 128GB - Black - Like new (SKU: 1234)
  • iPhone 13 128GB - Black - Like new (SKU: 12345)

This way, when a customer places an order, one of the available iPhones will be selected from stock. Let me know if you need further details!
