Message Link Preview Image

Hello!

When I send my store's URL via text message, there is the preview image that appears above the link. Currently, that preview image of the site is just showing up as a blank white image. 

Does anyone know how to add/create a preview image for this purpose?

I use Supply Theme, and my site URL is: lavenderluxfashion.com

Please go to admin -> online store ->preferences you would find settings for Social Image Sharing, set that up and you should be good

This doesn't work for me on the Providence theme. It only is for social media. When I send my website to someone via text message there is not a picture that shows.

Can you share what you did? My social media image works, but when I share in a text message it is a bunch of product images jumbled together.

Are you trying to send a link via text to your social media page or to your shopify website?

In recent weeks, when sending our website www.smokedfashionco.com in a text message it has started to show our product images instead of our social sharing image that I have updated on both my theme customization and the dashboard theme preferences. The image works when we share on social media, but shows product images when shared via text message. Is there a different place to change it for this?

Oh, I see. When I send a text with my website it shows the banner picture of my page. Do you want the text to send the shopper to your website or to your social media page?

I just sent your website as a text to myself. I see what you mean now. Okay, follow these instructions below. Btw, your instagram page is awesome. I hope this helps you. 

1. From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Preferences.
2. Find the Social sharing image section.
3. To upload a new image, click Add image. To change the existing image, click Edit > Change image.
4. Select the image from your computer that you want to show on social media.
5. Click Save.

8. To upload a new image, click Add image. To change the existing image, click Edit > Change image.
9. Select the image from your computer that you want to show on social media.
10. Click Save.

This image is controlled by a meta tag called og:image. You can search it yourself via view source => search 'og:image'.

For Facebook, use Facebook debugger to clear cache. For Twitter, use Twitter card validator.

For messages, it is controlled by Android and Apple. There is no tool to update link previews

Can you share how you fixed this ? I am having the same issue when I send my store link to people via text. I need to change the image. I tried updating the social sharing image but that did not change the text message image.

Ok, I am writing the steps below:

1. Open your web page
2. View source by right click > view source or ctrl U
3. Search for "og:image"
4. The link of this mets tag is your preview image. Facebook, Whatsapp, sms are using this tag 

If it's correct and the preview can't be displayed, it's probably a cache issue. For fb, use debugger to clear cache.

For other platforms, just repost the link to clear cache. Most of the time, it should be alright if the tag is correct

If the above methods don't work, just google "sms link preview" or something similar. Google god provides all technical answers in the world

It took about a day to update but it fixed itself when I updated the image
