Hi !

We're trying to find some products shown in our month-end inventory value report. They have the N/A mention for all of their product title, variant title, SKU and product ID. The only info shown about them is their variant ID, final quantity, cost and total value. We can't seem to be able to search the products by any of their available information.

By each month, they're dragging by and we would love to figure out what they are !

Can somebody help us out ?

Thank you

Hi @cathmeti

I totally get how frustrating this can be—seeing unidentified products in your month-end inventory report with only a variant ID and no other details makes it difficult to track them down. Let’s break this down and figure out a way to identify them.

How to Identify Products with Missing Information in Shopify Reports

1. Use the Variant ID to Find the Product

  • While Shopify’s standard search doesn’t let you look up products by Variant ID, you can try exporting your product list.
  • Go to Products > Export and choose to export all product data.
  • Open the file in Excel or Google Sheets and search for the Variant ID listed in your report. This should help you locate the product details.

2. Check Draft or Archived Products

  • Sometimes, products missing a title or SKU might be drafts or archived items.
  • In Shopify, go to Products > All Products, filter by status (Draft/Archived), and manually check if any of them match your missing inventory.

3. Review Deleted or Unlinked Variants

  • If a product was deleted but its variant remained in the system, it could appear like this in reports.
  • Look at any recent product changes—especially if you’ve merged, deleted, or adjusted variants in bulk.

4. Cross-Check in the Inventory Section

  • Navigate to Inventory > Adjustments and check past updates. If these items were modified or mistakenly added with missing data, you might be able to trace them here.

5. Look for Third-Party App Interference

  • If you use third-party apps for inventory or product management, check if they might be causing this. Some apps create temporary or placeholder variants that don’t sync fully with Shopify.

Final Steps

If none of these methods work, you might need to contact Shopify Support or your inventory management app provider. Sometimes, backend logs can reveal what’s happening with these ghost products.

I hope this helps you track them down! If you need any other assistance, I am willing to help.

Best regards,
Daisy.
