Multiple currency payouts

Why is it so expensive to get paid in multiple currencies? Shopify charges $38/mo for the Basic Plan, which converts USD payments to CAD. To receive USD in our USD account without any Fx conversion, Shopify wants $380 per month for the next plan. This is a deal breaker for us. May I suggest a more friendly upgrade cost to get paid in multiple currencies?
