Hello,

My dad thought he was purchasing a $101 165 gallon deck tote from inthno , but came out to be a scam. Any way for a refund?

Oh dang they shut down shop, sorry to hear about that.

If that "business" scammed you and is ignoring communications, contact your credit card company, they can issue a chargeback on your behalf.

How long after ordering can we contact the bank? Can we do it after one to three years?

Hi, @Miss_shakiii.

Welcome to the Shopify Community, and thanks for sharing your question.

Typically, you have 30 days from the statement date/order placement date to dispute a transaction with your bank. You'll want to check with your bank for specific policies. That being said, there is a timeframe you can contact your bank regarding an order issue. However, it typically ranges from 60 to 120 days from the transaction date, depending on your bank's policies.

Hi @HDDx,

Hyde here from Shopify.

It is very unfortunate that your father was the victim of a scam and I completely empathize. While Shopify does not manage the orders and payments for stores using the platform - and therefore cannot provide refunds - we do not tolerate fraud and always urge customers to flag suspected fraudulent stores.

The best way to do this is to contact your bank or credit card provider and request that they investigate the issue. This will automatically trigger an alarm in our system so that we are alerted to the fact that such a complaint has been brought against the store. We will then investigate and act accordingly.

There's just a little more information about this here, but really the above suggestion is your best bet at retrieving that money.

I hope that helps!

All the best, Hyde.

Good luck! I got scammed on a Shopify site for $300, and reported it to Shopify as well as the state attorney general and FTC. Shopify doesn’t care about scams on their platform, and will do nothing about it.

I’ll never see my $300, but I am posting warnings everywhere to let shoppers know Shopify is not a safe platform.

Report this issue to your bank and they can probably issue a chargeback.
