Hi @Dgertz21

First off, I totally get where you’re coming from. Starting a Shopify store can feel overwhelming at first, especially if you're new to e-commerce. But don’t worry—you’re not alone, and I’m happy to help you get set up so you can start making money with your store. Let’s break it down step by step.

1. Set Up Your Store Properly

Before you can start selling, you need to make sure your store is fully set up. Here’s what you should focus on first:

  • Pick a Theme: Go to Online Store > Themes in your Shopify dashboard. Shopify has free and paid themes—pick one that fits your brand.
  • Add Products: Go to Products > Add Product, upload images, write a description, and set your price. Make sure your product titles and descriptions are clear and persuasive.
  • Set Up Payments: Go to Settings > Payments and choose how you want to get paid (Shopify Payments, PayPal, etc.). If Shopify Payments is available in your country, I recommend using it since it avoids extra transaction fees.
  • Configure Shipping: Go to Settings > Shipping and Delivery, and decide whether you’ll offer free shipping, flat-rate shipping, or live carrier rates.
  • Customize Store Settings: In Settings > Store Details, make sure your business name, email, and contact details are correct.

2. Make Your Store Look Professional

Customers won’t buy if the store looks incomplete or untrustworthy. Here’s what you should do:

  • Create a Logo & Branding – Use free tools like Canva to design a simple logo.
  • Add Essential Pages: You need a Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, Shipping Policy, and Refund Policy. Shopify has templates for these under Settings > Legal.
  • Write an About Us Page – Tell your story and why people should trust your store.
  • Set Up a Contact Page – Customers should have an easy way to reach you.

3. Launch & Get Traffic to Your Store

Once your store is set up, you need visitors (aka potential buyers). Here’s how to get them:

  • Social Media Marketing: Start an Instagram, TikTok, or Facebook page and post content related to your niche.
  • Facebook & Instagram Ads: Shopify has built-in tools to help you run ads that bring in traffic.
  • SEO Basics: Use keywords in your product titles and descriptions to help your store rank on Google.

4. Test Everything Before Launching

Before going live, make sure everything works:

  • Do a test checkout (Shopify allows this under Settings > Payments > Enable Test Mode).
  • Check if product pages look good on both desktop and mobile.
  • Make sure your payment and shipping settings are correct.

If you're feeling stuck, Shopify’s Help Center has a ton of tutorials, or you can reach out to Shopify Support for direct help.

Don’t give up! It takes time to get used to, but once everything is set up, it gets much easier. If you need extra help, just let me know asap. Thanks.

Daisy.
