All things Shopify and commerce
Hi there
I have just created variants for a number of my products to give different package sizes. I think I've set them all up correctly but when I export my product list the rows for the new variants are largely blank. There is no data for any of the following:
Title
Body
Vendor
Type
Tags
Published
Option1 Name
Image Src
Image position
Image Alt Text
Gift card
SEO Title
SEO Description
I need to then use this export to import into Royal Mail Click and Drop but it's importing incomplete entries because the data isn't there I need at least the title and image src to proceed.
Any ideas?
Thanks, Kate
Hello Kate,
My name is Sam. If i understand your request correctly, the exported csv file doesn't include the variant information am i correct ? Could you please either give me an access to your store backend to have a look at it or share the csv file in here.
Thanks for your response. Here's a screenshot of the CSV file. You can see the empty cells for the variant lines (one is highlighted). Particularly interested in Title and Image Src...
Hello Kate,
To be able to assist you, i need to debug the the csv file and the products. If you could give me yoursite.myshopify.com, i will send you a request to access the backend
Your listed fields are Product only fields and cannot be set unique for each Variant.
The Shopify native export exports these fields filled only in the first Product row, so if you would have even 100 Variants, these fields would only be filled in the first row.
Except for image, the images also would be one for each row, so if your product has 2 Variants and 2 images then the 2nd row would also have filled Image Src value.
So all the information exported is correct and as it should be! 🙂
"The Shopify native export exports these fields filled only in the first Product row"
Is there a way to change the settings so that it does not do this?
The product export (without repeating the product only data for variants) is basically unusable for building pivot tables in excel. Shopify should update the export file properly.
