Hi everyone I need help on how can we change the box of " description " bigger so all the description can be fit in a product page
website : www.kantorku.co.id
Theme : xtra
Hi! Your store kantorku.co.id looks great....clean layout, clear product presentation, and I love how you’ve displayed the chair variants with thumbnails. Really user-friendly!
About the "description" box:
From your screenshot, it looks like you're using the Short product description block, which limits the text and adds a “Read more” link.
To show the full description:
Go to Online Store > Customize
In your Product template, click Add Block
Look for a block called Product Description or Information and add it
Then hide or remove the Short product description block to avoid duplicates
If the Xtra theme doesn’t offer the full description block by default, a small template tweak might be needed — but check the blocks first.
Let me know if you need help finding the right one
dear Praizid
it doesn't come with a block of full description. i have tried to figure out
and yes its was correct it show a Short description with " read more " button but it Can't be click to go for a full description
so what is the solution for this ?
@OLIV1
Thanks for confirming! The reason your full product description isn’t showing is because the theme uses a short description block with a “Read more” link — but in your case, it doesn’t expand.
There could be a reason for that...like a missing script or a bug in the theme version you’re using.
Since Xtra doesn’t seem to include a full description block, the fix is to update the product template and add {{ product.description }} where you want the full text to appear. That tells Shopify to load everything without cutting it off.
It’s a small tweak....if you’re open to trying it, go to Online Store > Edit Code, then find your product template (usually under Sections or Templates) and replace the short description code with {{ product.description }}. Let me know if you'd like help spotting the right file
Dear Praizid
I have Open the Edit Code
I saw there are two code for description
1. Product Description ( Line 249 )
2. Short Product Description ( Line 320 )
My problem with the product Description --> if I turn it on is the product Description Locate in the Bottom of the image and it doesn't Look Good for people to scroll down for the description
My Problem With Short product description is --> the Text did not Justify and I lost Bullet Point
see Picture
This is the the Bullet Point
Thanks for sharing the screenshots and explaining the issue clearly ...I understand now that you’re trying to have a short product description near the top of the page, but with formatting like bullet points and bold text.
Right now, your theme is using this:
The problem with this line is:
It removes all formatting (so no bullet points, bold text, etc.)
It cuts off the text at 200 characters, even if it breaks the sentence or formatting
Here’s a Better Way:
Instead of stripping and truncating the text, we can keep the full description with formatting and only show part of it visually, using CSS.
Step-by-step fix:
1. Replace your current code with this:
This shows the full description, but we’ll control how much is visible using CSS.
2. Then add this CSS to your theme (in theme.css or similar):
css
This will:
Show just the first part of your description
Keep all formatting (like bullet points)
Allow customers to click “Read more” to expand and see the rest
Benefits of this method:
Bullet points- Preserved
Bold/formatting - Fully supported
Read more option - Easy to expand
Customer experience - Much better layout
Let me know if you need help finding the right place in your theme to put this code...happy to guide you further
To increase the size of the product description box so all text fits without looking cramped, you can add custom CSS to your theme.
Add this CSS in Online Store > Themes > Customize > Theme Settings > Custom CSS (or under Edit Code > base.css or theme.css):
.product__description { max-height: none !important; overflow: visible !important; white-space: normal !important; }
If the description is placed inside a container with restricted height, you might also need to target that container specifically depending on your theme (e.g., .product__accordion, .product__content, etc.).
If you're not sure about the class name or it's not working, please share your store URL and collaborator request code, and I’ll fix it for you quickly at no cost.
