Re: New items excluded from Primary market

New items excluded from Primary market

I noticed a change in behavior yesterday when I was adding new items to my store. For some reason the new items were not appearing in the shop, although everything seemed to be set correctly. I could see them in the Admin, and they were appearing in collections, but not in the public storefront.

After much digging, I discovered that these new items were being excluded in my Primary Market by default. They appeared once I marked them as included in the market.

Shopify's documentation states that new items are included in your primary market by default, so I'm assuming this is a new bug. Has anyone else experienced this? Do you know how to resolve it and make new items included in the primary market by default?

Hello @JT68,

This is Gina from flareAI app helping Shopify merchants get $5Million+ in sales from Google Search, on autopilot.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing an issue with your Shopify store. While I don't have access to the specific details of your store, I can provide some general advice that may help.

Firstly, I recommend checking your store's settings to make sure that your primary market is set correctly. To do this, go to Settings > General > Store Details in your Shopify admin and ensure that your primary market is set to the correct country or region.

If your primary market is set correctly and new items are still not appearing in your storefront, you may need to check your collection settings to ensure that they are properly configured. Specifically, check that your collections are set to include new products automatically. To do this, go to Products > Collections, select the collection that you want to modify, and then click on the "Edit" button. From there, ensure that the "Automatically select products based on conditions" checkbox is selected and that the conditions are set correctly.

If neither of these solutions work, I recommend contacting Shopify's customer support team for further assistance. They will be able to investigate the issue in more detail and provide specific guidance for your store.

I also just experienced this today.  My primary market is set correctly but new items I’m adding are being excluded by default.

I contacted Shopify support and after several days, the issue resolved. I'm not sure what they did. Support did say to clear the cache and I also updated my Shopify app and now it all seems to be working.

This is my experience

We had this on one of our sites late 2023, then on another January 2024.  We had the same code base updating all sites using GraphQL, with some sites being affecting and others not.    We logged tickets with Shopify support and they denied any changes (and didn't seem to know much about Markets, even how they were applied).

Then, overnight, all stores were OK.  Shopify support said nothing had changed their side.  My guess is that this is a platform issue and dependent on how Markets is being rolled out, something definitely isn't right.  We have seen new features being rolled out as opt-ed in automatically before that have caused us issues (even if it was just confusion).  The approach should always be opt-in for existing clients if you ask me
