Congratulations on migrating your store from Lightspeed to Shopify! To process a refund for an item purchased through Lightspeed via Shopify, you'll need to follow these steps:

  1. Confirm Refund Policy: Ensure that the customer's purchase falls within your store's refund policy window. Review your store's refund policy to determine if the customer is eligible for a refund.

  2. Verify Payment: Double-check that the customer's payment was successfully transferred to Shopify during the migration. If the payment was processed through Lightspeed, it should have been migrated to Shopify along with the customer's order information.

  3. Process Refund in Shopify: To process the refund in Shopify, follow these steps: a. Go to your Shopify admin dashboard. b. Click on Orders and find the specific order for the customer's purchase. c. Click on the order to view its details. d. Scroll down to the "Refund" section and click "Refund items." e. Select the item(s) that the customer wants to return and specify the quantity and reason for the refund. f. Click "Calculate refund" to determine the amount to be refunded to the customer. g. If necessary, modify the refund amount and add any additional notes for reference. h. Finally, click "Refund" to process the refund.

  4. Communicate with the Customer: Reach out to the customer to inform them that their refund has been processed through Shopify. Provide them with any necessary information, such as the expected refund processing time and confirmation details.

If you encounter any issues or have specific questions about refunding an order, it's best to reach out to Shopify's customer support for direct assistance. They can provide more tailored support for your specific case and help ensure a smooth refund process.

While Cart2Cart specializes in data migration between e-commerce platforms, it may not directly address refund processes within Shopify. However, it remains a valuable tool for data migration if you ever plan to migrate your store to a different platform in the future.

Hi. I can't answer you but we want to get away from Lightspeed and move to Shopify. How did you do that? Did absolutely everything transfer over? Sales history etc? Any info from someone who moved across greatly appreciated.

Hi!!!

It went well but was long!! I ended up doing it manually because I didn’t want to pay to do it and wanted to have control over it because we had A LOT of inventory. So the inventory, gift cards, customer info I transfered over. I found out after the fact that you can also transfer sales history but I didn’t know so didn’t do it… even if it was a lot of work I have absolutely 0 regrets and it was so worth it. I do not miss lightSpeed and never want to go back. We didn’t have a good 4 years with them. Shopify is much much better. I also created our new website in Shopify and then created our items online anew.
So everything can be transfered except for store credits. But I printed a sheet with all the store credits we had left over and keep it at the till to use manually.

There is a few apps you can pay to help do the transfer OR you can also pay an agency to transfer it all for you. For us it was a choice and I just didn’t use them! If you talk to Shopify support they will give you some names. 🙂

I hope that helps!!

If you have any more questions let me know!! Just email me 🙂

Have a good day and good luck with the switch over!!!

This is fantastic. Thank you. Very helpful. We used Lightspeed Onsite for many years and I would rave about them, but when we were forced to their inferior cloud POS which is not the same at all, I have been ranting to anyone who will listen. Haha. Can't wait to get rid of them.

Thanks again. I appreciate the response.

I found this old thread - i'm wondering if you had used appcard in lightspeed? We were originally Shopkeep POS users, which then became Lightspeed S-Series. I am working on a transition to shopify (POS and e-comm), like you I also chose manual migration and it was so worth it. My only issue is the loyalty/rewards points. appcard is all embedded and they are making it impossible to gather information. Did you run into this at all? Any other "don't forgets" before we finalize the switch
