All things Shopify and commerce
Hi, I’m new to shopify. I’ve been successfully downloading my product images but it’s just stopped accepting them saying they exceed the maximum resolution. I saw this was an issue back in 2020, is anyone else having similar issues and do you know how to fix it?
Hi @Laurenanna
Welcome to the Shopify Community!
Thank you for reaching out here to let us know about the issue you are experiencing with your product images.
Based on the information you have provided, it sounds like your images might be exceeding the requirements when uploading them to your Shopify store. It’s possible that the image file size and dimensions could be too large for our system to process.
The requirements outlined here indicate that you can upload images of up to 4472 by 4472 pixels, with a file size of up to 20 megabytes. PNG file type is recommended, however you can also use JPEG and some other less commonly used file types. We typically recommend using 2048 by 2048 pixel files if you are uploading square product photos. I would recommend referring to this cheat sheet here, as it's a really handy resource for understanding the various requirements of different images on your Shopify store.
There are some steps you can take to potentially resolve this issue:
If none of the above steps work, or if you require further assistance, I would recommend reaching out to our support team so that we can investigate this further. Feel free to let me know if you have any further questions or concerns. We are always happy to help!
