All things Shopify and commerce
So basically I have an item that I am selling for example a shoe model which has multiple colors and sizes.
In another shipment which arrives in a month I want to add the new color of this shoe model in my system but I dont want to activate it not until it arrives.
If it was a completely new model I can draft it.
If its a new variant of an item thats already active I dont think I can deactivate it until it actually arrives and becomes available in stock. Is there a way to do that?
Thanks!
I'm interested in this, too. @Liquid-kicks - Have you found a solution yet? I was wondering if adding a variant-level metafield object with a boolean value would do it. E.g., metafield object "Hidden" = true.
Hi MstrohFG,
I havent really found a solution yet but Im only adding these as soon as the shipment arrives which is not ideal.
Im not sure if I exactly got what you meant but Im wondering if this worked for you.
This is a common request to Shopify. There's no GOOD way to do this apart from template edits and a metafield that you check on page load. It's a massive oversight. There are plugins that hide 0-stock SKUs but nothing exactly for what you want. They're all hacks.
Hi Atomix,
Can you please recommend such plugins?
Did you ever come right with this? I have the same challenge (as I expect anyone who forward orders product does.)
No, sorry. We never found an appropriate solution. We just opted to delete the variant from our Salsify product feed, thus preventing it from being syndicated into our Shopify store. Then, we deleted the variant entirely from Shopify. Not great.
After all this time has passed, and after no finding a solution until now, I was wondering if by now anyone has come up with a solution to this yet?
Hi LazyCoder,
Honestly, If you build such an App I think you can have some good success with it.
What I recently found as a tweak is to use purchase order, make the products and keep them as zero in quantity and then add them as purchase orders. Once they arrive you can accept it.
There is so much though that you can do and maybe we can discuss some if youd like.
I can think of a million things that needs custom coding lol
