So I am managing a website which has over 50k products and hitting the 1k upload limit and the only option I know of going over the upload limit is getting Shopify Plus plan. I would like to know if there are any way I can upload more than 1k per day without getting Shopify Plus plan or if I can get Shopify Plus for just a month and upload everything? Can Shopify Plus be paid in monthly basis?

Thank you for the link! I definitely think your business is eligible to be reviewed. Please note, that I cannot make any guarantees that your variant limit will be increased. This is handled by an escalated team. But, I do believe that this warrants a review!

Hi! We are an official reseller of various well known book publishers and we are running into issues with variant upload limits. I understand that in certain unique cases that businesses can be reviewed to have their variant upload limit increased. I talked with Shay from the community forums (https://bit.ly/3FUN7Cg) and she recommended that I reach out to request a review. Could I please have this request escalated to the appropriate team.

Hello @LimAustin49,
There are several options you can consider to upload more than 1k products per day without upgrading to Shopify Plus:
Use a CSV file: You can use a CSV file to upload your products in bulk. This allows you to upload multiple products simultaneously instead of one by one. Shopify provides a step-by-step guide on how to use CSV files to import products, which you can find here: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/products/import-export/using-csv
Use an app: Several apps on the Shopify app store can help you import products in bulk. Some popular apps include Bulk Product Edit & Import, Excelify, and Importify. These apps allow you to upload thousands of products in one go.
Hire a Shopify expert: If you're uncomfortable using CSV files or apps. I can help you in uploading your products in CSV.
Regarding your question about Shopify Plus, it is a monthly subscription that starts at $2,000 per month. However, you can contact Shopify's sales team to discuss pricing options and see if they can offer you a short-term subscription or a customized plan that meets your needs.
I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any further questions.
Regards,
Hassan
Hi @LimAustin49
Thank you for those details! I would love to hear a bit more about the nature of your business and what products you are selling to have such a high number of variants.
In unique cases our team may be able to review the store for eligibility of an increase in your variant upload limit. This would need to be requested by the account owner through our authenticated support channels, but I can let you know here if that is something you might be eligible for.
If the store is live, would you be able to share the URL for me here?

Hello @Shay
We are official reseller of renown publishers such as Cambridge, Oxford, Scholastics etc. Each publishers have books a few thousand books but due to the upload limit, we can only publish the best selling books from each publisher.
It would be great if we can request to an increase in upload limit, We have contacted Shopify Support, but they did not mention any possibility of increasing the limit. If there is a way, could you please let us know? Thank you.

Thank you for your assistance @Shay, I will contact the support team with the owner account and request a review.
@Shay I am having the same issue. I have almost 180k products. I am a one person print shop with over 180,000 prints that customers can order.
By 50000 variants do you mean 50000 products, or product variants? For example a phone case could be just one product, but it has hundreds of variants (phone model), so how will it be counted ?
I have quite a specific and very large collection (20k designs), multiplied by couple of physical products alone + their variants will likely go over 50k for me, I am wondering if I could create an app that will store all my products and variants in some other table (or get it via api if shopify doesn't allow DB access), display those fake products when customer browse, and actually create in my shop only the products that are ordered by customers and sent to PODs. Is it feasable at all ? How long does a sync of a product from shopify takes to external POD usually before customer can actually order it ? or can I process the order with a fake product and then handle everything through APIs?
Hi @parajis,
Once you hit 50k+ variants, you are limited to adding 1k new variants per day. This applies to variants specifically, not products. We do not offer API support directly via these forums so the feasibility of what you're proposing is hard for me to judge; perhaps others here or elsewhere on the Community can speak to whether it is possible.

Hi @Shay This option doesn't exist anymore, right? I contacted Shopify support since I'm working on a store in the same niche (bookseller). The support told me there is no such thing as an exemption from the 1000 variants a day limit. Instead, they pointed me to use the Excelify app. As far as I know, the Excelify app doesn't allow you to bypass the 1000 variants limit. Or is this something that changed in the meantime too?
Hi there, @planiko. Thanks for following up on this thread. I took a moment to consult some internal resources and it looks like folks are still able to request a review to see if their business would qualify for a variant limit exemption. To be a bit more clear on these limits, if a business has less than 50,000 variants, then they have no limit of different variant uploads. If they have more than 50,000 variants, then the 1,000 variant limit is set in place. This is separate from the 100 variant uploads limit for a specific product.
I recommend that you reach back out to our Support Team via our AI Assistant (this is an authenticated support channel, and our team needs you to be Authenticated so they can review this request) as craft a message similar to what Shay had advised one of the previous poster. This should help you look into the possibility of having a review of your business completed to see if you're eligible for any limitation exemptions.

Thanks for taking the time to check this @Imogen I'll give it another try as you recommended. Hopefully, I won't run into the same support agent haha. The store has 100k variants right now.
Best of luck, @planiko! If need be, you can refer the Support Advisor you connect with back to this thread and my reply, if needed!

Hi Imogen. I sell merch for state and local parks. I sell items like tshirts, hoodies, mugs, tumblers, etc. I've reached the 50,000 variants daily limits recently. It's driving me insane. I recently created a bigcommerce account because I'm tired of this daily limit. Do you think my store has a chance of getting increased? My url is www.ppfmerch.com
Thanks in advance
Hey, @JSPENCER0203! We're unable to advise or confirm the possibility of increasing the limit for your store, so I suggest contacting our support team. Please visit our Help Center to speak with a support advisor about this.

The thing to note here is that it's basically a scam.
When we signed up for Shopify they stated unlimited uploads. If this only applied to uploads direct from the site, and not using an API, they should say so. An asterix with a note explaining this should be used. They know this, but they don't want businesses to know it until they're pot committed with months of learning and time spent building their site.
If they did tell us we probably would have looked at using Woocommerce, but again, that's why they made the premeditated choice of not telling us.
It's a duplicitous trap and it must be breaking Trading Standards rules.
We were forced to pay for Shopify+ for a year, which is an absolute rip off. If we didn't pay for it, 50,000 variations wasn't enough to have a viable site.
At the very least, they could offer a plan for listing more products that isn't as extortionate as Shopify+.
Guess what? They still state unlimited uploads. So even after being told by so many companies, like us, about the deception, they still choose to deceive small businesses.
Shopify? I despise you and your disguising corporate ethos.
