Page template content sections white out after page loads - Help please!

Please help! I was viewing my website via the eye icon in the menu and content vanished below the header. It is there for a split moment as the page loads but then changes to white. In the theme editor, the sections  that were there all have the visibility "eye" icon as visible still. Its effecting all page theme templates, although on product pages, the product image is there but full size, and everything else is missing. As it looks normal for a moment when you first load it, I know it is all there somewhere, but something then effects the theme and takes over. I am gutted this is so much work if I can't restore it. I have tried duplicating the theme and it duplicates this "error" (or what ever it is) too! I'm thinking it might be an app/plug in playing up, or I've clicked a setting that makes this happen and can't see what I've done. I don't know how to identify the issue and I really need assistance. Can anyone suggest some things for me to look at please?
