All things Shopify and commerce
Hello @AdamB_Helper To gain recognition and appear in the "Hire a Shopify Partner" directory or get recommended by Shopify in support emails, you'll need to go through some specific steps and meet certain criteria. Here's how it works:
1. Set Up Your Public Profile in Shopify Partner Dashboard
. Go to your Shopify Partner Dashboard.
. Navigate to Settings > Business Profile.
. Complete the "Public Profile" section thoroughly:
. Add a professional logo.
. Write a clear description of your services.
. Include a portfolio or case studies.
. Set your skills, industries, languages, and location — this helps you show up in relevant searches.
You will only appear in the “Hire a Shopify Partner” directory if your profile is public and approved.
2. Apply for the Shopify Experts Marketplace
. This is invite-only, but you can express interest by:
. Building a strong track record (e.g., high-quality development, theme customization, or marketing work for multiple clients).
. Submitting excellent work through development stores.
. Reaching out to Shopify Partner support via the dashboard and asking how to be considered for the Experts Marketplace.
Shopify may monitor your performance (e.g., feedback from clients, successful store launches, solution-oriented communication) before inviting you.
3. Build and Launch Development Stores
. Shopify tracks your performance with development stores.
. To be considered for more visibility or recommendations, help merchants launch stores through your Partner dashboard using development stores.
The more high-quality stores you launch, the better your reputation becomes in the ecosystem.
4. Maintain Excellent Client Feedback
. Shopify sometimes recommends partners in support emails based on:
. Client reviews.
. Successful past collaborations.
. Specific matches of merchant needs to your listed skills.
Ask your existing clients to leave feedback or testimonials where applicable.
5. Be Active in the Partner Community
. Join the Shopify Community.
. Answer questions, publish solutions, and engage in discussions.
. Consider joining the Shopify Partner Slack (if invited) and engage with the broader network.
Thank you 😊
Referring to step 1. @goldi07 I am not promoted with anything regarding a Public Profile.
Thanks for checking — you're right to point that out. Shopify has restructured the way Partners are listed and not all Partners are eligible to create a public-facing profile unless they’re part of the Shopify Experts Marketplace, which is invite-only.
Here’s how it breaks down based on current policies (as of 2025):
Why You’re Not Seeing a Public Profile Option
. Only Experts can create public profiles that appear in the “Hire a Shopify Partner” section.
. Regular Partner accounts (even those actively building stores) do not automatically get access to this listing.
. Shopify uses internal criteria like quality of work, client success, and activity to determine eligibility.
What You Can Do to Work Toward It
1. Express Interest in the Experts Marketplace
. Go to the Shopify Experts Marketplace.
. Scroll down and look for "Become an Expert" (sometimes only visible when logged in).
. If the link is not available, contact Shopify Partner Support via your Partner Dashboard and say:
"I’m an active Shopify Partner and would like to apply or be considered for the Experts Marketplace. Can you let me know the current requirements or process for eligibility?"
This lets Shopify know you’re serious and opens a channel to flag your account for future review.
2. Build High-Quality Development Stores
. Keep creating stores through your Partner account.
. Shopify evaluates:
. Number of successful development store handoffs
. Client retention
. Store quality and merchant feedback
3. Gather Client Testimonials (Externally)
. Ask your clients for Google reviews, LinkedIn testimonials, or to include feedback on your own website.
. This gives you a professional presence while you're building credibility for Shopify to notice.
4. Contribute to the Shopify Ecosystem
. Help others in the Shopify Community Forum.
. Join Shopify webinars and events.
. If you're a developer, consider contributing apps or themes to the Shopify ecosystem.
TL;DR:
You don’t see a “Public Profile” because that feature is reserved for Experts Marketplace members. To get there:
. Keep building and handing off quality stores.
. Request to be considered by contacting Partner Support.
. Gather external reviews to build credibility in the meantime.
Thank you 😊
You’ll want to build a solid portfolio and establish a good track record with your clients. Shopify tends to feature partners who have good reviews, consistent activity, and a strong presence in the community. Also, engaging in their Partner Program, attending Shopify events
@AdamB_Helper this is a snake pit and most replies for a topic like this are gonna be unvetted chatgpt stuff.
There used to be partners slack channel that would be great for this and making connections but shopify shuttered it without considering consequences like this.
So new partners will now need go to the dev forums and the partners-discussion subforum and hope.
