Customers for offline orders who do not like sharing their email address are suddenly not able to make payment via link sharing for draft orders.

i.e. Payments are no more going through for Draft orders when no email address is used.

Shopify hasn't come out with an explanation. Their support (which has become worse) is clue less. And technical team is still 'figuring it out'.

Any one has tried a workaround?

Hi @shaad_mulla,

I understand how frustrating this issue can be, especially when dealing with offline customers who prefer not to share their email addresses. While Shopify hasn’t provided an official explanation yet, here are a few workarounds you can try:

1. Use a Placeholder Email Address

If your customers don’t want to provide their email addresses, you can add a placeholder email (e.g., noemail@example.com) when creating the draft order. This allows the payment link to be generated and the payment process to proceed. Just make sure to keep a record to avoid confusion with real email addresses.

2. Utilize Phone Numbers

Shopify does allow phone numbers to be used in place of email addresses in some cases. You can add the customer’s phone number in the contact field while creating the draft order. Ensure your store settings permit phone numbers as a contact method.

3. Process Payments Manually

If the above options don’t work, consider processing payments manually. Create the draft order without an email, and then collect payment through alternate methods like bank transfer or cash. You can mark the draft order as paid once the payment is received.

Also,
Without an email address, you won’t be able to send order confirmation emails or updates to the customer. Make sure to communicate these details through alternative methods like SMS or phone calls.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions.

I just ran into this same issue. No idea why this is happening and very annoying. Only resolved so far by sending the invoice via email in the shopify. Sharing links don't seem to work.
