Phone extension causing postage label error

I sell on my website along with Amazon, the Amazon orders pull into Shopify via the Codisto app.

 

If the customer enters an extension along with their phone number, it causes errors with my postage company (Pirateship) - because USPS allows only 15 digits for the phone number - so any orders with an extension are now triggering an error when purchasing labels.

I have 3 screenshots - on Amazon you see the extension. On Shopify, you don't. On Pirateship, you see it again.

THIS IS A NEW PROBLEM THAT DIDN'T EXIST BEFORE LAST WEEK.

 

- Codisto says they have always just pulled ALL order/customer info from Amazon into Shopify.

 

- Shopify support has suggested I pay an expert to write code that will modify/delete an extension from orders. This is absurd. 

 

- Pirateship says they just pull all info from Shopify, so if there's a phone extension entered, they pull it.

So basically, this is no one's fault, and yet I'm left with a serious problem... that just started last week.

Anyone else having this problem? Any ideas how to fix it? Thanks...
