Hello All,
We are looking for a solution to gift new email and SMS subscribers our Pique Quiver (Sample Pack) free of charge when they purchase one or more OTP or Subscription products from our store.
We currently provide customers with a special one-time code that they can use at checkout to claim the free sampler pack, but since it is a custom script built on the backend that "Auto-Adds" the Quiver free of charge, it does not work for customers who enter in their code into Shop Pay checkout app and causes a lot of customers to write in.
Alternatively, we already tried building a Buy X Get Y Shopify discount code, but for some odd reason it doesn't work with Subscription products (We use Recharge). This seems like a pretty simple functionality of an e-commerce platform, because a lot of companies provide customers with free gifts as a way to incentivize them to purchase a subscription.
Here Are My Questions:
1. Is there a way to get our "Auto-Add" custom script to work in the Shop Pay checkout app?
2. Why doesn't Buy X Get Y discount codes work for Subscription products?
3. Are there other free gifting solutions that would work to accomplish this? Keep in mind that we only want a free gift to go to recent email and/or SMS subscribers and they would only get to qualify for the free gift once.

Seems like a Shopify limitation with Recharge maybe a custom app could help. Also, Automated Email Solutions for Freight & Logistics face similar integration headaches with checkout systems.

since you are providing providing unique code for this did you try creating a discount code which will add free product when you have desired product in cart?
alternatively you can create an external service which will create work as follows.
1. Instead of providing the unique code you can generate unique URL for users.
2. Once user lands using the URL desired product and free item will be added into the cart. Free item will not available if desired item is not in cart.
