All things Shopify and commerce
I recently logged into an email account I rarely use anymore but is linked to my Apple ID and had to verify change of email, while going through the inbox I noticed an email from what appears to be a legitimate string of emails regarding a store and payment account set up in my name. I am extremely anxious about this and need help. I’ve tried emailing support but understand that it will take time for response and I don’t see a number I can call. Live chat is asking store info or to sign up for a store. Please if someone has advice on how to contact someone who is in the fraud prevention department I would greatly appreciate it.
Hi @Kmarsilii22
Welcome to Shopify Community.
You can use 'Forget Password' feature from Shopify to change your password.
Once you have your own password set up, login to partners.shopify.com using your email and new password.
From there, you should be able to view the stores that is live using your payment information.
Please go to stores, then click on that store.
You will be redirected to admin section of that store.
Now, Go to Settings -> Plan.
It should show the current plan that your store is on.
You can cancel your subscription from here if you like by clicking Deactivate Store.
Select the reason for deactivation and click on Continue.
You will be prompted to enter your password to Deactivate.
IMPORTANT - DO NOT GO VIA THE EMAIL LINK (that you may have received on email). It may be a spam/fraud email trying to imitate Shopify into getting your credentials.
Thank you,
Sajat

Want to modify or custom changes on store? Let me help.
Thank you Sajat! I will do that. My only fear though is in the event any fraudulent transactions occurred I am leery to login using my device or credentials as I do not want to be linked to the fraud. Maybe I’m overthinking. I believe this may be a growing scam as I’ve seen other reports of this on here in a similar fashion.
Hi @Kmarsilii22,
In this situation, I would recommend contacting gathering as much evidence as you can and sending it off to Shopify as they will be able to help you resolve this issue with this store which was not opened by you but rather some 3rd party in your name without your consent.
I hope they manage to resolve this as quickly as possible for you 🙂
Regards,
Marko
