POS App and Two Websites

I have one Shopify account with two separate websites. I have recently downloaded and connected the POS app to my phone to enable me to start selling at fairs and events. This was done just before I started setting up the second website.

Can I add the second website to the POS app? Each website sells some items that are the same but then also has unique products to each website. Eventually the original website will sell more different products with only a small amount of products that are also on the second website.

This is a great question and something that comes up often when managing multiple storefronts under one account.

Shopify POS is designed to connect with one store (one Shopify admin). Even if you have two websites under the same account or brand, Shopify treats them as separate sales channels only if they are built within the same store.

Here’s how it works in simple terms:

1. If both websites are built using one Shopify store
Then yes — your POS app will reflect the products and inventory from that one store. You can sell any products listed in that store, including those from both sites, as long as they’re all part of the same product catalog.

If you're using Shopify’s Online Store 2.0, you can have two different website designs or themes under one store and use collections or product tags to organize what appears on each site.

2. If you’re using two separate Shopify stores (with different logins)
In that case, the POS app can only connect to one store at a time. You would have to log out and switch between stores manually in the POS app if you wanted to access products from both. There’s currently no way to merge products or inventory from two separate Shopify accounts into one POS view.

Workaround tip
If the two websites share many of the same products, it might be easier long-term to manage everything under a single Shopify store and use collections, tags, or even different landing pages to separate the products per site or brand.

This way, you can manage everything from one admin panel and connect it smoothly with the POS system.
