preview button in product page ui broken

It's been broken a couple days now but Shopify says this is the new normal behavior.  So frustrating.  They basically broke the preview button, told me this is how it was always suppose to work but yet the functionality still isn't there.

almost two weeks and still broken.  shopify support continues to assert this is how the preview button has always worked.  🤦🏾
