All things Shopify and commerce
My products with variations, for example, T-shirts with different sizes, I have the cost input for each size but when I go to Analytics - Reports - Cost of Goods Sold, the costs for these items aren't showing up for the ones I've sold, however the costs for products without variations show up, for example stickers.

Hi @AllTheEvos,
Keanna here from the Better Reports support team. Were you able to find a solution for this?
Shopify's built-in reporting will always use the cost at the time of sale for their cost of goods / gross margin calculations. They will not update the costs associated with historical sales based on the current variant cost.
If you'd like to see historical sales cost data calculated based on your current variant costs, I recommend using our app Better Reports. All gross margin / cost of goods sold calculations in our reporting rely on current variant cost (even sales which occurred before cost was recorded). We can also create custom reports based on your specific needs.
In addition to custom reporting capabilities, Better Reports offers more than 60 built-in reports that cover your most common reporting needs including sales, current inventory, refunds, payouts, and more. Our reports can even be scheduled to send at a set frequency to your email or Google Drive!
I encourage you to install Better Reports and start your free 14-day trial and I'll be happy to answer any additional questions.
Yes, what are those things?
Im not sure what you mean to change or where
The product shows up on my website, I just want the cost of goods sold to calculate on the reports. I dont really understand what SEO has to do with the COG, can you elaborate?
I already have calculated product cost and entered it in for each product and product variation, but its still not showing in my reports.
Hi, @AllTheEvos!
Welcome to Shopify Community.
Thank you for sharing your question with our network. I was happy to look deeper into this, and I'm assuming that one of two things are going on.
Please let me know if either of those suggestions are helpful, and I'd be glad to continue discussing this further.
Warm regards,

1: I have entered each variant cost.
2: I want to view all costs together not individually. They should show up on the general COGS report.
Thank you for that context, @AllTheEvos!
In this case, we'd like to take a closer look at how you have your products set-up along with your account. Since this is a public space, we are unable to access your account here due to privacy and security reasons.
With that being said, please connect directly with our Support team for further assistance in troubleshooting your issue. I trust we will be able to help you resolve this sooner than later.

Hi @AllTheEvos I'm glad you found the right solution for this 🙂 If you are still looking for something similar, or maybe someone else in the community is, I can recommend Dhatma as well for this. In our 'All Variants' report you can see the COGS, units sold, Variant Revenue, Inventory Quantity, and more, for each variant SKU. I encourage you to check out our demo here to have a better look at our features. If you have any questions, please get in touch 🙂
