Products falling off of website

Products falling off of website

We've had our website running for more than 5 years. In the last couple of years we noticed from time to time that a product has quit selling. When we go to see why the product is no longer on the website but is still active in our inventory.
I've heard the same thing happening from others that use Shopify so we have narrowed it down to a Shopify issue.
Any ideas what's going on or how to stop it?

Hi, @KarenFaulkner

Thanks for posting to the Community Forums!

When you open the product in your Shopify Admin and select the Sales Channels dropdown, are you seeing it Active in Online Store? If not, that would be the issue.

Additionally, if the product isn't in a collection that's viewable on the site, or you don't have a clickable 'All Products' option, the customer wouldn't be able to find it.

That being said, without access to your Admin it's difficult to say why the product isn't showing. As such, if you still need support please reach out to our live team who can access your admin and check on the product's settings.

We will have an item online for a month or 2 years and all of the sudden it just isn't showing up any longer.
We end up going back into the product and reset things to get it to come on again.
Once we set an item up we make sure it's online and where it should be. Items just drop off for some reason.
It's like someone is turning them off.

Thank you for that update Karen. You should be able to see any recent actions being taken in your admin by going to Settings > General > Store Activity Log (bottom of the page).

Our authenticated support team can also investigate and see if they are noting any actions being taken on these products, either by staff or apps on the store. The window of time that they are able to look into isn't very long, so I recommend keeping an eye out for any product changes and reporting them to our authenticated support team as soon as you notice it happening.
