New to shopify site building, am not good with code so go easy on me lol!

I've installed the Trade theme in my development site and have set up my main menu with a drop down for shopping categories and in this theme there are partner logos along the bottom of the image banner that can also be linked. I'd like for both of these options to be available for customers to shop. Neither are working correctly and this is where I'm stuck.

I've set up the link to go to a default page that I have added a collection in the template section.  I have linked the collection I want and as far as I can tell that collection is linked to the test product via smart tags. The product and collection are set to active, are visible, in stock, all that good stuff.

When I look at the list of collections in the admin dashboard for products linked it says my test product is linked.

When I click on the collection through the menus I have set up, it refreshes the page/does not open to go to another page to list the test product. What am I missing?

It's the first time using Trade theme as I've primarily used Dawn so thos os really throwing me off.

Please help!

Hi @kismetandsoul

Welcome to the Shopify world and the community! 😊 Don't worry, we all started somewhere, and you're doing great by asking questions. Let's figure this out together!

From what you've described, it seems like there might be a couple of areas to check to ensure everything is working as expected with your Trade theme setup:

1. Verify Your Menu Links

  • Go to Online Store > Navigation in your admin dashboard and check the menu links you've set up.
  • Ensure that the links in your dropdown menu are pointing directly to the correct collection page (not a placeholder or a custom page).

2. Check the Collection Visibility

  • Double-check the collection settings:
    • Go to Products > Collections, click on the collection you're linking, and ensure it is set to Visible under the "Sales Channels" section.

3. Product Association with the Collection

  • You've mentioned smart tags, which is great! Just ensure the test product is indeed tagged correctly and that the collection conditions are set to include that tag.
  • If it's a manual collection, confirm that your test product is manually added to it.

4. Theme-Specific Settings

  • The Trade theme might handle collections and product displays slightly differently than Dawn. Check your Theme Editor (Online Store > Themes > Customize) for any collection-specific settings, especially for how links and sections are displayed.
  • If there are partner logos or other interactive elements, ensure those are linked correctly in the Theme Editor as well.

5. Cache or Browser Issue

  • Sometimes, the issue could be as simple as a caching problem. Try clearing your browser cache or testing the site in an incognito/private browsing window.

6. Reach Out to Theme Support

  • Since you're using the Trade theme, it's a good idea to reach out to the theme developers for guidance. Many premium themes come with support to help troubleshoot specific issues like this.

Let me know if these steps help or if you're still stuck
