Hello,
I’m hoping to get some clarification from Shopify as I’ve seen conflicting information. I’m based in the USA, and I’m wondering if you can sell live animals, specifically reptiles on Shopify. Some places it says no and other places it doesn’t say. So I’m hoping to get a clear answer so I know if this is a platform me and my clients can utilize for their reptile sales businesses.
Thanks!
Rose
Hi @Rose5
I understand you're seeking clarity on whether Shopify permits the sale of live animals, specifically reptiles, on its platform. According to Shopify's guidelines, selling live animals, including reptiles, is prohibited. The Shopify Help Center states that "animals and livestock, including pet prescriptions and certain animal products," are among the prohibited product types on Shop.
Additionally, Shopify's shipping partner, DHL Express, explicitly prohibits the shipment of live animals, such as insects, pupae, or hatchlings.
Therefore, using Shopify to sell live reptiles would not be permissible under these guidelines.
If you need any other assistance, feel free to reply and I will try my best to help.
Best regards,
Daisy
