"Method" option not available for shipping discounts

I am trying to create an automatic shipping discount based on the Shopify instructions here. It says "In the Method section, select Automatic Discount".

However, I don't have the option to choose method when creating shipping discounts. My agency manages several stores, both Plus and non Plus, and I don't see any option for method in any of them. I only have the option for a discount code, not an automatic discount. This is only a problem for shipping discounts.

Problem solved. We are currently still using checkout.liquid and the automatic shipping discounts don't work with checkout.liquid.

As checkout.liquid will be deprecated August 13, 2024 https://changelog.shopify.com/posts/the-checkout-liquid-theme-file-is-being-deprecated
it might be wise to look for a new solution.
Advanced Free Shipping is a new app, that can create Free Shipping for specific shipping methods (using the new Checkout extensibility).
