"Trick" a product listing to show up as a NEW product listing....?

Hi All,

I figured that I might toss this out to the general community to see if anyone knows how to do this. Support has been great, but I wanted to see if someone out there has done this and can share how to do it...since I know it is a little bit of an oddball request!

OK, so, when you sell out of a product and then you restock that product, and then you change the inventory of that product listing from "0" to "1", the product will NOT show as a NEWLY listed product.

Is there any way to "trick" that product listing into showing up as a "Newly" listed product when your shop displays "newest items first"?

   I want to avoid:
     * Duplicating the previous product listing in order for it to show up as a newly listed product.
     * Changing my sorting to "manual".

I would love some feedback on this, or that golden "trick" to make this happen.

Thank you for your time.
Rob

Hi there, @solid71. Thanks for taking the time to reach out to the Shopify Community Forums with your question around this idea you have. My name is Imogen. It's good to meet you!

I'm not too sure if my suggestion here will be a repetition of something our Support Staff has told you previously. My immediate thought was duplicating the product and publishing the duplicate (something you acknowledged was possible, but not ideal) but then I thought that perhaps you could look into offering a 'new products' collection where you can manually assign products. This would allow for this particular products to always be found in a 'new products' section of your store.

Are you able to provide a screenshot of where your products are being presented in the order of 'newly listed'? Is this a filter option you have for the search function in your store? This could be helpful context for us to have in regards to advising on potential ideas.

Good evening,

Thank you kindly for your response.
I have attached a screenshot of my home page, and on my home page, the items being displayed are the newest items.

I'm not sure if that was what you were asking, but if not, please let me know.

Regarding the "Newest" collection, that's not a terrible idea, but it would require some big moves and changes to my site, and I'm looking for some trick to turn any product listing into what appears as a new product listing (I'm guessing these is an "ID #" assigned automatically to each product, and the highest number would be the newest ones).

Thank you again.

Regards

That's totally understandable, especially if you have a larger product inventory that would make manual collections too time consuming. The alternative is to use an app that offers more filtering options. For example, OT | Collection Sort & Manage can sort by new inventory added.

I've been looking for some way to do this as well.

Unfortunately, not without the ways you want to avoid.

Would be really nice though
