All things Shopify and commerce
In April this year, I took out a Shopify loan, which I've been paying off each time I make a sale. I still have a large amount due on the loan. Recently, I have had several emails titled "Re: Shopify Capital - Settlement Offer" offering me a settlement fee. If I choose to pay this fee, it says the remittances on the loan would cease and I would not be expected to complete the remaining balance of the loan. Or I can choose a second offer of a new monthly payments schedule. The email it has come from is [email protected] signed Ben Recovery Analyst for Shopify. The settlement offer is significantly lower than the balance remaining on the loan so I'm a little unsure if this is a scam. The link to pay the settlement fee leads to a simple check-out page with Shopify logo on URL www.capital-gbp.myshopify.com
Further text in the email says "When you have submitted the remittance, please provide me with the Transaction ID along with the Sender information so that I can apply it to your account." It just seems very odd that this is all handled outside the admin pages of my shopify store, and not within the admin site, which is where I originally applied for the loan. But the fact it has come from an email ending shopify.com makes me think it is genuine?
🤔My question to the community is this; "Has anyone else had this email, paid the settlement fee, and had their loan balance reduced to zero?"

This is an accepted solution.
I'm replying to my own question to confirm that I got an answer from Shopify support to say it was all OK and not a scam. So I paid the settlement offer, via the link, and after 5 working days the Shopify Capital balance disappeared from my admin page within my shop!!
Sorry no, but i would be very sceptical of this.
I am going through the same thing. It seems odd that they're requesting payment through a link, right?

Thanks for the info but I read elsewhere tht with the discounted offer they then take a UCC filing on your company...have you heard that since they are losing money on the loan they gave you or make a filing to damage your credit score.
Hi Kna!, they did advise that if I accepted the settlement, I'd no longer be able to take another Shopify Capital loan. But they did not advise they would be filing a UCC.
