Redirect Existing Product Page to Collection Page

the redirect is not working. I see it in URL Redirects but when I go to the product page on any browser it loads without redirecting.  what am I doing wrong?

Can you add more context so we can solve this issue. 
The URL Redirects only works when redirecting from a URL that results in a 404 error.

no more context needed.  as it says in the title, the page exists and does not have a 404.  but still need to redirect it to the collection page.  how can this be done?

Again you can't. A redirection is feature to say if someone lands on /link1, take them to link2 instead. That means, there is no point of /link1 page because it is redirecting to /link2.

Mean you need to make that page draft or delete it and it will work. 

You actually want the 404 in this case and it will redirect you to collection page.

cannot have the page a 404 as it needs to exist so that the brand shows up on my brand page.  without at least one product of the brand existing the brand won't show up in the dynamic brand listing. 

will have to code it myself.    this is not off the wall functionality for a website.  I don't really care what Shopify allows as this is my site and I will do what I want

Then you just want a button/image/text link that goes to another brand page. In this case you don't want a URL redirect. 

The correct term in this case is Hyperlink and not a URL Redirect.

I have the brand page set up already.  I have 250 brands and the brand page dynamically creates links based on brands of the products that exist in the system.  no product page, no link to collection page.   for this particular brand, customers cannot purchase any products as they are commercial, built to order products. 

since at least one product of the brand needs to exists, i need that one product page to redirect to the collection page that contains information on the brand and a form to submit contact information if interested.  

I can code it.  though the host could redirect like other website platforms. thanks!

Could you make sure the old URL you're redirecting exactly matches the one being entered.
