Hi guys. Is there a way to delete or remove old tags from the big "view all tags" list ?
Thanks

This is an accepted solution.
To permanently remove a tag from your admin, you'll need to ensure that the tag is removed from any product that it's currently applied to. Below are the steps on how to achieve this!
Once you've processed these steps, you'll be greeted by a white container that has a text box where you can enter the tags you wish to remove. Simply insert the tags here, select "Apply Changes" and that should remove the tags from the filter list found on your website!
If this wasn't what you were after, or if you have any other questions then feel free to reply back and I'll happily help out!

I'm having this issue where I have two tags "ABC-12345" and "ABC 12345". I want to remove "ABC-12345" and am able to click on the tag to add like the above example, but I cannot select "apply changes" button to remove it, or any other the other tags.
On a side note, when I click "ABC-12345", it shows products under "ABC 12345" on my website. Since these two are the same, I am trying to remove "ABC-12345" but am having difficulty.
Any help to figure this out would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Ken
Hi there @kensugai @John_and_Debbie @Trevor
I think I know how to resolve this problem. 🙂
Go in all products and MARK ALL of them. So when on one page you can only mark 50 but then there is a small text to the right of the 'action' field asking if you want to MARK ALL products.
After marking all products to go into actions and remove the two tags in your case. This is done by scrolling down and clicking on both the tags.
Proceed -> apply changes. Then the store should have compelety forgotten BOTH tags and you can now add the relevant tag to your products again.
Hope this helps
Kind regards
Joachim Leganger
Your instructions worked as expected within Shopify, but the changes are not updating on my website. Any suggestions?
Same here. No more tags in shopify but on the website, the tag is still showing in "Filter By" (which of course, if selected will say "0 products"
Hey, @LaskoBrands, @Rocking!
If the tag has been entirely removed from the admin, then there is a possibility that it's a system caching issue. For this, I can flush the frontend cache of your store which should resolve the issue. I've sent both of you an email to get this looked into.

I actually solved this on my own by clearing the cache on my Chrome browser.
I'm amazed that a Shopify support ticket was created based on this post.
I thought this was just a community forum.
Thanks! You can mark my ticket as solved.
I'm having the same problem. The tags still show on "Filter By" dropdown even though I've removed them from all products. Please advise. Thanks!

Hello- I am having the same issue. Has there been a new fix on the website or does it manually have to been updated? I'm sure i will have this issue again in the future. Thanks!
Tags should automatically update once the tag is removed; however; there are times when the system doesn't entirely remove the tag from your website, which will require an employee to flush the front end cache. I've shipped you an email to get this looked into!

Thanks!

Hey, @ignitionformen!
Can you confirm you've completed the steps found on page one of this forum post?
To permanently remove a tag from your admin, you'll need to ensure that the tag is removed from any product that it's currently applied to. Below are the steps on how to achieve this!
- Open up your products within the admin.
- Click on the small white box to select your products. Note: If you have more than 50+ products, then you'll want to select (Select all 50+ products) that will appear to the right after you select the white box.
- Select "Actions."
- Click on "Remove Tags."
Once you've processed these steps, you'll be greeted by a white container that has a text box where you can enter the tags you wish to remove. Simply insert the tags here, select "Apply Changes" and that should remove the tags from the filter list found on your website!
If you have, and the tags are still appearing, let me know!

Thanks for your reply but I figured out the issue and it's all working fine. I noticed that when you select the 50+ products (cos i have more than 50 products) and applied to remove tags, it was only removing tags for products on the page displayed for some weird reason. So, i had to go removing page by page. For those still having the issue, follow peter's instructions and if you're still having the issue, you might have to do it page by page. My website is https://www.happyjaysupplies.com/ if you want to have a look.
Thanks
Can someone please advise how this problem with TAGS not being removed has been solved. I have now had 2 live chats with Shopify and still no solution other than them having to clear the cache at their end..which is not really a solution. HELP! please
In most cases, the issue should be resolved by flushing the front end cache, which is something our support can do with the tools we have available. That said, some times, it doesn't work. Should that happen, we can escalate the issue up to our Technical support for further review.
I've gone ahead and sent an email tied to your forums account. If you can reply there, then I can help get this reviewed.

Many thanks for picking up on this, much appreciated.
The operator Mark B. at Shopify escalated this problem today and has advised i will get a response within 72 hours.
I think the frustrating thing is, for all of the users, is this issue has been ongoing for at least 1 year and there doesn't seem to be a proper "Shopify/user end fix". It really isn't practical to need to contact Shopify each time a change is required.
I am still on the trial version and , in truth, am unsure if the site is going to be stable if i decided to commit to a £ plan.
Having worked with content management sites for many years, deleting or adding something should take almost immediate effect on the live site.
I am keen to stick with Shofify, but this needs to get fixed to allow us all to focus on our businesses and not a site with glitches we have no control over.
Happy to work with you all on this
Regards
HJ
I would like to request to flush the front end cache as well. My shop is - www.thepetscouture.com
I understand the concern, and while this isn't an issue that would typically require you to reach out to Shopify Support as it should clear on its own, there are times the tags run into a bit of a hiccup. If that happens, our teams are able to help diagnose the issue to ensure it's fixed up. I'm unable to discuss your ticket in a public forum as per our security protocols; however, I do hope that Mark will be able to provide a solution in a timely manner.
Are you referring to the frequently used list that appears when trying to add new tags? If yes, I'm afraid this menu can't be removed or disabled as it's intended to make workflow more efficient by removing the need to retype tags you've already used.
I've shipped the two of you an email.

Hi! I'm having the same problem about a removed tag that still appears on the tag filtering. Can you help me, please?
Same story happening in my shop, tags list not updating after deleting them all
Very sadly i have to report that despite having been in touch with Shopify on numerous occasions regarding this, i am unfortunately still being told today "...give us some time, we are still working on it" I am really quite mystified as to how something like this can take almost 8 months (date of first post i can see from other members) to resolve an issue like this! Anyone who has this ongoing problem, my own views are there will not be a fix any time soon. Appreciate any feedback or workarounds. It may be we need to try and fix our own problem if Shopify Technical are unable to
