Reorder products in collections through API now working

I am reordering the products in a smart collection using the API (not through the backend GUI). I then see in the backend that they are reordered correctly, but when I view the collection at the frontend, it still shows the "old" sorting. This problem was reported a few times already, but seems not solved still.

I recently did reorder products in a collection manually and it does seem to take effect. I did this on the studio theme. Didn't have to use any code

Nice, so you managed to change the backend but frontend doesn't take effect, strangeee....
