Reserve Item To Cart For Limited Time Frame.

It's very usual that our shop sells highly valued items that usually sells out within minutes (sometimes seconds).

 

What happens is when these drops come, the customers only buy the one product (because they are scared someone else will checkout faster).

I want to prevent this and have the item reserved in their cart for X minutes (and therefore also being deducted/reserved in the stock). This is so the customers can in the own peace of mind add more items to their cart to increase the total order value.

 

I haven't found any app or similar way to achieve this.

Hi,

 

Thanks for the effort on looking, i've gone through the App Store and tried a few without finding one that suits my need. It seems as all the mentioned apps doesn't actually reserve the items (i.e. the stock of the item being deducted for X amount of time). They're all basically just a custom timer bar. I'll look into contacting app developers.

We have a similar situation when we launch our classes. We use BookThatApp to create our class calendar, and I know that our classes are reserved while they're in the cart and that we can set a time limit for the reservation. I don't know if the app will work for you because it is designed for classes and appointments,  but it does what you want.

I would LOVE for this to be an option!! I get so many angry messages from people who have had items in their cart but someone else just happened to put their credit card info in faster. 

this also causes customers to make multiple orders so they can get everything they want which makes so much more manual work for me. 

im getting so exhausted always needing an app or an ‘expert’ to do simple things in Shopify. If anyone ends up finding a platform that doesn’t make everything a chore, please share

Did you find any solution to this? We are having the same issues, and its very frustrating as we are leaving money on the table.
Sometimes customers do multiple orders in quick succession to make sure they dont miss out, but most would not do that and instead only buy 1 thing, or they go to pay and their product is gone out of their cart... giving us lots of angry customers!!

I'm experiencing the same thing! and also looking for a solution. 

I had to spend hours dealing with upset customers, and then customers buying multiple items but in multiple orders so i had to manually refund some shipping, and make sure i grouped their items going out. Lots of headaches. 

This would be a lovely feature to have or at least have an app available.

Has anyone found a solution to this, either by app or a developer?  We have tried Conversion Plus Pro which states real cart reservation but we are running into some issues.  Like everyone else this is a big issue for us.

No solution, we too tried that app but was extremely glitchy, and seemed inconsistent and clunky due to the way the app works…. it takes a snaps shot of your stock and works from that, as it isnt able to work with the true stock levels. This meant it was not a responsive as it needed to be, and just generally did not feel like a real solution to what should be a basic feature.

We actually ended up going to Shopify Plus as this was touted as something it supported. Its early days, but now I am actually paying for shopify plus it seems it still isnt a perfect solution. The team wasnt able to tell me how long the cart was held for, nor that it was editable. If I want a timer then that is ANOTHER app.
I thought the whole point of plus was to reduce the amount of little apps doing basic tasks.

I really think Shopify needs to do better on this. It feels like such a basic requirement, and would sure save a lot of customer disappointment, and customer service hassle.

That's frustrating.  We felt the same way about the app since it's not working in real-time.  We looked at Plus as well based on volume and features but this sounds like it still requires helper apps for some functions. 

 

I guess going with a developer and the GraphQL route is the next option.  I miss our old magento shop which did this function flawlessly albeit with a ton more other headaches to manage.
