Resident ID Number for Shop Pay and Other Payment Options

Shop(ify) Pay, Apple Pay, and other payment options all seem to bypass the Resident ID code requirement for customers from Korea, China, Brazil, etc...

Is there anything in the pipeline to make this a mandatory requirement or to require Shop Pay users to update their profile such as to include it? With customs ID being mandatory for shipping, this information not passing into the order makes it necessary for our team to contact our customer to ask for information that should be already included - this adds friction and adds unnecessary steps to fulfilling customers' orders.
