Hi All,

I purchased an item and the seller sent me an unrelated item. The purchase was done as COD (Cash on delivery). I tried reaching out to the seller but the email fails and the number is always switched off.

I checked out if there are any reviews for the seller site (on Trustpilot), and I see 20+ people like me who are struggling with the seller.

I tried reaching out to Shopify at https://www.shopify.com/legal/report-aup-violation. I received the below response.

This email is to inform you that we have received your submission regarding Malicious And Deceptive Practices. We will investigate and take further action if warranted.

After the above, I got "Report an issue with an order" link, and that's it.

But I do not see myself getting my money back from the seller. I still have items sent by the seller with me.

this is my last try to get some answers and how I can get my money back. After which I'll be tagging this issue on socials.

Hi @jjaaxx44,

I definitely understand where you're coming from regarding an order that you placed online and would be happy to share some insight on how we can help.

As Shopify is a platform used by many merchants to sell online, we are unable to manage day-to-day operations or intervene in the order process (i.e we are unable to process refunds). If however, you placed an order online, I'd encourage you to check out our Order FAQ Page for more information on how to proceed.

As you have already filled out our AUP report, then you will want to continue to try to get in touch with the shop that you purchased from. They would be the best ones to assist, as stores on our platform are independent businesses and Shopify does not oversee those processes.

It's important to note that for any reports filed, we will not be able to discuss the findings of the report with you. This is due to privacy reasons. We will however, investigate fraudulent activity reported to us and take action accordingly.

Please let me know if you have any other concerns.

Exactly the issue, you are letting sellers scam people without updating customers. That's a pretty good way for the scammer to continue. Basically, AUP is useless.

You say "try to get in touch with the shop that you purchased from" The seller has put in a fake email and number. I don't think Shopify will share the actual number and email of the seller.

I see the shop is still open and accepting orders.

Also isn't is poster's job to accept a solution I did not accept it. Who accepted the solution I did not.
