All things Shopify and commerce
Lately we cleaned all of our products and have been seeing a recurring problem with Sales channels.
Specifically with missing Age and Gender.
The issue is that we have those setup already
The ONLY way to resolve is to follow the link they provide and update those values.
You cannot do it in the Category metafield area - shown above.
I reached out to Support and spent about an hour with them.
What is also frustrating is that I go to the merchant shop and almost all are correct and valid with no issues.
But I have found a few that are broken.
So it is now finger pointing between Shopify and Google.
And it is impossible to find the problem unless you look at each product. An export provides no help.
Any help is most appreciated.
This issue occurs when Google Merchant Center detects missing values for age group and gender in your product feed, even though they are correctly set up in Shopify’s metafields. Here’s how to fix it:
Go to Shopify Admin > Apps > Google & YouTube.
Navigate to Manage Products.
Check if Age Group and Gender are correctly mapped to the Google Shopping fields.
If they are missing, update the correct metafield mappings.
Open Google & YouTube Sales Channel in Shopify.
Click on Manage Listings.
Find the affected products showing errors.
Click Edit Product and scroll to the Google fields section.
Manually enter the missing Age Group (Adult, Kids, etc.) and Gender (Male, Female, Unisex).
Click Save.
After updating the product attributes, go to Google & YouTube App > Settings.
Click Resync or Refresh Feed to push the updated data to Google Merchant Center.
Log in to your Google Merchant Center.
Go to Products > Diagnostics.
Check if the Missing age group/gender errors are still present.
If errors persist, reprocess the feed by clicking on Fetch Now.
If the issue remains, export your products to a CSV file from Shopify Admin > Products > Export and check if the age group and gender fields are populated correctly.
If the issue continues, consider removing and re-syncing the affected products.
If the metafields are correct in Shopify but still missing in Google, disconnect and reconnect the Google Sales Channel.
Shopify Support and Google Merchant Center support may need to be involved if the sync is broken.
Does not apply to my problem
opify store if you're still finding it difficult to follow up with the steps provided by amazing guy i can for sure connect you with VA that helping related issue with my shopify store
???
The Amazing guy, did not address your question, but just relied on A-I. I'm not a bot, and Ill answer what you asked.
If you see fix age group and gender in Shopify, it's strange that you don't see it in GMC, are you sure you can't see it when you go here: https://merchants.google.com/mc/products/diagnostics
If no, then you are good. Because what is important is the info in Google Merchant Center. What you see in Shopify, related to GMC, might just be outdated info. Because in this case Shopify is the 3rd party, and info comes from GMC, I have found that in a lot of cases Shopify info is outdated.
So if you do see the issue in GMC, youc an use feed rules to re-map the values, for example females to female. Here is a guide where you can apply feed rules:
Thank you very much - I agree that the other two responses did not really read my issue.
To you here is what we have for attributes - which talk about nothing with age or gender.
I am just amazed that no one can help resolve this issue - or that more people are not seeing it.
It is on Shopify - since as I have stated - I can make those selections in the metafield area and yet the Shopify UI still sees it as not selected.
Appreciate your help on this!
Just makes no sense
As you have no issues in Google Merchant Center, no point stressing about something that is not an issue in GMC. As explained if the issue is correct in GMC, and you have no issues, just let it be in Shopify. It doesn't change anything from the perspective of GMC. Considering what is important is that GMC has the correct and valid info. As that is the case, best to spend your valuable time on other things, rather then fixing something that is a visual issue with the app UI, rather then an actual account issues in GMC.
What shopify says, is completely irrelevant, and issues you have has been a common issue with the google and youtube app.
So if you want to find issues, always go here: https://merchants.google.com/mc/products/diagnostics
Thanks for the quick reply - appreciate the help ...
