All things Shopify and commerce
Hey!
I recently received three emails and I’m not sure if they’re real or a scam? This is the last one I received.
Name: Shopify
Email: info.shopifyregulatoryteam18@gmail.com
We’re reaching out to you about a critical issue that we identified during our platform integrity review, which we conduct to ensure the authenticity and trustworthiness of all stores on our platform. With the upcoming holiday shopping season approaching, shoppers are increasingly looking for trusted online stores, and we’re committed to holding our merchants to the highest standards. Our review revealed that your store is currently operating without a valid trademark certificate—a requirement for all Shopify merchants. If you don’t address this non-compliance, your store will be permanently deactivated on December 20, 2024. This action is necessary to maintain the integrity of our platform and ensure a safe shopping experience for our customers. To avoid serious consequences, you must take immediate action to resolve this issue and obtain your trademark license. If you need assistance, please contact our compliance team immediately and reference your merchant ID for a quick resolution. Contact Compliance Support here This matter is extremely urgent. Stores that fail to comply with this requirement will face irreversible consequences, including removal from the Shopify platform. We strongly recommend that you address this issue immediately to protect your business. We are monitoring this issue closely and will take action against non-compliant accounts without hesitation.
Best regards, Shopify Compliance Team
Hello @starfuljoy00 ,
It's a scam, mark them spam and block them.
Shopify officials never use gmail for such conversation.

Guleria
Is it possible to prevent such emails from being written or not?
Thank you!
No, just mark them spam and block them. They are spammers and randomly sends emails to everyone in hope of easy pray.
Few things you can do:
1. Don't share your email with anyone.
2. While proving store access to someone keep don't provide full permission of store.
3. Don't install unnecessary apps.
btw I just want to let you know I'm a developer and I don't have any live store but everyday I receive more than 5 emails like this.
Hey @starfuljoy00
Shopify would never email you from a gmail.com domain so it's most probably a scam email and there's nothing to worry about it.
Best Regards,
Moeed
Hi, Starfuuljoy00
The email you received is highly suspicious and likely a scam. Shopify will not contact merchants about trademark issues or platform compliance using a generic Gmail address.
You can prevent them by adding domains or IP addresses that you suspect are scams to the blacklist.
I hope it helps you.
Best regards,
Daisy
