Hello Shopify Community!

I own a very small business, but am starting to get a lot more products, so manually entering one-by-one is starting to become very cumbersome. Is there a system for scanning product barcodes, importing the product information, and then uploading to Shopify to make my life easier?  😅

I'd appreciate any advice or help!

This is an accepted solution.

Do you have many suppliers or just a few? If you have a few you can reach out to them and ask them for a CSV/ excel file with the product information details. That makes it much easier to add the products as you can simply upload the CSV file to import products

If there is somewhere online you can find that information, you can also add it to a CSV file yourself and import the products right after. Download this template to see which fields you can fill in and import. That may speed up the process for you.

There isn't a database where you can fetch that information to fill via a barcode, unfortunately.

Hi, @ayellowgiraffe.

Rio here from the Shopify Community team. I'm happy to help you out with this. Firstly could you share a bit more context?

1) What system do you currently have your product information in?

2) Do you have product information and barcodes in a CSV (Excel) file?

If you can share those details I'm glad to provide a way to make your life easier when importing your products!

Hi! I buy my products wholesale either direct from the brand or wholesale distributor. I wanted to find out if there was basic product info in the barcode that could be extracted by scanning the upc into some sort of system. So far I've been entering the info straight into Shopify one by one. Is there a system I'm supposed to be using? And, no, I do not have a CSV file. Sorry, I'm pretty clueless about this!

Does Shopify have an app where I can scan the UPC to populate description weight images?  I am trying to streamline my listings.  I get about 100 new product every month.  Please advise

there is a program called SellerChamp that does this. I buy liquidation truck loads that have 10,000 items on them and I literally scan every single product one by one and if there are multiple you simply scan them and it adds to the quantity. This program even provides MSRP and current selling prices and it links directly to Shopify where you can then send over the data with pictures or simply create a CSV manifest. only downfall is that its 199.99 per month to use the API and is expensive for me because I don't do that many products on a monthly bases I need it simply like once per quarter when im buying truckloads. So I am here also looking for a better solution if anyone finds anything. I also should add there is a 14 day trial that no credit card is required for so if you have abunch of products you need to scan to build a product list you can do it for free if you can get it done in 14 days.

Rio,

I have a huge question to ask.  We are a liquidation company that gets products from amazon and the big box stores.  They all have ASIN and barcodes on all of the products.  We also have a matching manifest in a CSV excel sheet that features all of the data such as the item description, the brand, and the price.  Our goal is to be able to use a barcode scanner to scan the item, have shopify search our excel spreadsheet, locate the barcode and pop up the information attached to that row.  From there, we would like to simply print out a barcode with the price to attach to the items.  Can you please help?
