Scanning UPCs and pulling information

I know this has been asked before but since it has been over a year ago I figured I would try.

We have a bookstore and we have to manually enter all the information for books as we get them in, huge time loss. To the point we are looking at alternatives to Shopify. I saw someone talk about some app for $199 a month, that's not a viable solution. I am also aware a lot of other companies have the ability to pull product info from the UPC, has Shopify figured out how to integrate this yet? Is it on the roadmap?
