All things Shopify and commerce
Hello, my website's SEO score has been completely unavailable and has multiple errors on Page Speed Insight. And also had multiple new SEO errors on SEMrush for about 10 days. As I see, I am not the only one experiencing the same errors. @Shopify could you please provide an update on the situation? What caused this, and when or how will it be fixed? Thanks
NEW ERROR: Preconnect to required origins Error!
NEW ERROR: Document has a valid hreflang Error!
NEW ERROR: Document has a valid rel=canonical Error!

That's strange. I just double-checked, and the problems are gone, and the SEO score is now visible. I think the Shopify has been fixed the issue. Thank you!
These are errors with your theme itself, and not an issue with the Shopify platform.
If you are able to share a link to your store, I'd be able to investigate the problem, and give you some actionable advice on how to resolve your SEO issues.
Hi @MatthewLeeHess, My theme is well optimized and 100% focused on SEO and speed performance, so I don't think it's a theme or code error. My SEO score was 100% before the Shopify robots.txt update. I think the issue is Shopify-related and a very serious one. It destroyed my SEO. I have sent the link via PM; please check it. Thank you.
@AK81 can you provide your store url?

Hi @AK81 ,
I'm sorry to hear about the SEO errors you're encountering on your Shopify store. The issues you're describing, such as "Document has a valid hreflang Error" and "Document has a valid rel=canonical Error," can indeed impact your site's SEO performance. These may be attributed to a number of factors, including updates to Shopify's system or inconsistencies in your website's code or theme.
To help resolve these, ensure that your hreflang tags are correctly implemented for international SEO, if applicable, and that your canonical tags are properly set to avoid duplicate content issues. It's also worth monitoring any updates or changes from Shopify that could affect your store's SEO.
In cases like these, an app like SEOPro can be particularly helpful. SEOPro can assist in conducting an SEO audit of your Shopify products and collections, identifying issues like missing keywords in titles, descriptions, and meta tags. It can also guide you through SEO score improvements and facilitate bulk optimizations to save you time.

Hi @AK81 ,
It looks like you're encountering common SEO errors related to hreflang and canonical tags, which can impact your site's performance in international search results and content duplication, respectively. For the 'valid hreflang' error, ensure that your hreflang tags are correctly implemented to signal to Google the language and geographical targeting of your content. As for the 'valid rel=canonical' error, confirm that your canonical tags point to the preferred URL of content that may appear in multiple locations.
SEOPro can assist by conducting an SEO audit of your Shopify products and collections, identifying and guiding you through the SEO issues. While it doesn't directly fix hreflang or canonical tags, it can help optimize your meta tags and improve overall SEO health. If you're managing multiple products or collections, SEOPro's bulk optimization tools could be very useful.
