SEO Optimization Metrics

Hello All!

I am about to bring on a vendor to execute SEO optimization for my website.

The vendor will be performing the following items:

  • Keyword Research - Keyword Strategy: Identify high-value keywords and map them to relevant pages.
  • On-Page SEO - Content Optimization: Revise content with target keywords. - Meta Tags: Optimize titles, descriptions, and headers. - URL & Image Optimization: Ensure clean URLs and optimized images with alt text.
  • Technical SEO - Site Speed & Mobile Optimization: Improve loading times and mobile responsiveness. - Sitemap & Structured Data: Submit XML sitemap and add schema markup.
  • Local SEO - Google My Business & Citations: Optimize profiles and ensure consistent local listings.
  • Content Strategy - Blogging: Create regular, keyword-focused content. - Internal Linking: Strengthen site navigation.
  • Link Building - Backlinks: Acquire quality backlinks and monitor for harmful ones.

With that being said, I would like to track my metrics over the next 90 days to see if the investment has improved anything, but I am unaware what metrics I need/should track and where to gather this insight from within Shopify - does anyone have a checklist or something similar?

My website for reference: www.BrownBrownie.com

Hi @BrownBrownie

To track the effectiveness of your SEO efforts on Shopify, you can monitor several key metrics. Here's a checklist of metrics you should consider tracking over the next 90 days:

  1. Organic Traffic: Use Google Analytics to track the number of visitors coming to your site from search engines.

  2. Keyword Rankings: Monitor the rankings of your target keywords using tools like Google Search Console or third-party SEO tools like Ahrefs or Semrush.

  3. Bounce Rate: Check the percentage of visitors who leave your site after viewing only one page. This can be found in Google Analytics.

  4. Conversion Rate: Measure the percentage of visitors who complete a desired action (e.g., making a purchase). This can also be tracked in Google Analytics.

  5. Page Load Speed: Use tools like Google PageSpeed Insights to monitor your site's loading times.

  6. Mobile Responsiveness: Ensure your site is mobile-friendly using Mobile-Friendly Test tool.

  7. Backlink Profile: Track the number and quality of backlinks using tools like Ahrefs or Moz.

  8. Local Search Visibility: Check your local search performance using Google My Business insights.

  9. Engagement Metrics: Look at metrics such as average session duration and pages per session in Google Analytics.

  10. Technical SEO Issues: Use tools like Screaming Frog or Sitebulb to identify and fix technical SEO issues.

For gathering insights within Shopify, you can use Shopify's built-in analytics for basic traffic and sales data, and integrate with Google Analytics for more detailed insights.
